Winamp Plugin Non-functional

Post by steelydan »

If anyone has anytime to look into this issue, it would be greatly appreciated:

I have made a post or two around here about a script that would execute the functions of a power hour, which is:
-Take a list of 60 songs, preferably from a play-list
-Play 60 seconds of each song
-In between each song, play a sound to alert that a song is changing.
-The idea is to do 60 shots of beer in 60 minutes, it's a pretty old game from what I hear, but that's besides the point.

Anyways, I have found 2 options. A developer has made a stand-alone program with iTunes, called iPowerHour, and it is quite nifty. But I don't want to change to iTunes for the sheer reason that I favor MediaMonkey too much.

The second option, and I'm hoping the more successful, is that there is a plugin for Winamp that executed this exact function. I have read that it worked with previous versions of MM. However, when installing it and trying to work it, I receive an error, stating:

Now I know that all the songs on the list are longer than a minute and there are 60 songs there, so that isn't the issue. Oh well. If anyone has any insight at all, it would be much appreciated.

Thank you all for your time,

This should be easily made with MM 3.1 Scripting:
- Crossfade Off (Or only 1 Sec top)
- 60 Seconds Timer
- Small track that will Announce Changing (5 Seconds) or even Text to speech to announce how many are left to bring up tension
- 60 Tracks in Playlist (Or Even Make things more challenging and Enable Auto-DJ to pick one of your tracks from Library so that Gamer do not know which track will play next)
- Setup Dialog (or MM Setup Sheet) that will control Settings apron starting PowerHour Game
- Button in Toolbar that will trigger Event and tool tip that will

Hopefully someone will find this challenging, as I think it would be good for learning and get conformable with MM Scripting API due the fact that only few API options would be used.

Peke,

Apologies for the late response. I had read your post when you had originally posted it, but I had thought about whether I had the time and patience to code. As a college senior with a computer information systems degree; I have Java, C, and SQL background, but never really did any coding that wasn't necessary for a school projects. Regardless, I am very appreciative of the advice that you had given, and I have already saved your suggestions into a text file so that I can eventually take on the project when I find more time to myself.

Graduating this year, I still do not believe that I would have the time to do any coding. However, I've come across a nifty MM script in the archives and am rather intrigued as it may be able to do what I am looking for.

This is a link to Steegy's SongPreviewer, which absolutely fills almost all of my needs. Just creating a playlist with the songs that I'd like, this script allows me to play them in succession for a minute each (also allowing me to pick where I want to start and leave off, which is amazing). The only snag is that I am unable to have a quick 1 or 2 second sound file in between songs to alert everyone to take a shot of beer. :D

If yourself, or anyone else, has an idea as to what may work as a temporary fix, I would be very appreciative. Again, thank you Peke for the insight, and I hope I am able to take on the project one day. In addition, thanks to Steegy for providing your script for a purpose that you probably had no idea it could be utilized for.

Again, any help is much appreciated,
SteelyDan
