changing id3 tags for iPod tracks doesn't work

Post by charlieMOGUL »

Hi,

First and foremost: Thanks for all the wonderful iPod support you guys added to the most recent alpha edition of Mediamonkey. Even with Firewire support and the ability to browse the iPod... excellent!

When I try to change id3 tags for tracks located on the iPod everything seems to be working, the information looks updated. However, after refreshing the information, it seems that the tag information isn't changed at all. Undocking and docking the iPod doesn't help - the tags stay unchanged.

I'm using iPod Photo 40 GB, MM Alpha 3 (2.4.1.854)

Edit MP3 Tags for iPod

Post by rusty »

Charlie,

Are you saying that you don't use device synchronization functionality? i.e. you treat the iPod as a drive, scan it, and edit Tags of tracks on that device whenever the device is connected?

Please clarify what you mean.

Thx.

Rusty,

Sorry - here goes:
I use the options
Synchronize only the following (..)
Rebuild database based on all track changes

When edit the properties of a track that's on the iPod, but NOT through synchronization the changes are lost. The track was there BEFORE I used MediaMonkey as 'upload' tool for my iPod.

To upload new tracks, I use the synchronize functionality (I select the tracks and synchronize them to the iPod).

It isn't a bug, it's caused by the fact the iPod doesn't read tags but needs all track information in a special DB file.

Anyway, this will be improved in the next release of MM and iPod's DB will be automatically updated after any edit of tracks on it.
