Hello,
I've tried to solve this myself via the help documentation and I've searched the forum but I can't find an answer that fits my particular directory structure.
It is the final piece of the jigsaw in my attempt to organize my music collection and I would be grateful for any help.
I have successfully managed to tag all my album tracks in MM Gold but am having no luck in working out how to add the the actual album title via 'auto-tag from filename'. I've tried various combinations in the 'auto-tag from filename' but with no success.
My albums are organized like this:
D:\Music\Beatles\Albums\Abbey Road\
D:\Music\Beatles\Albums\Revolver\
D:\Music\Jimi Hendrix Experience\Albums\Are You Experienced\
D:\Music\Jimi Hendrix Experience\Albums\Axis Bold As Love\
Inside each album folder it is arranged like this:
D:\Music\Beatles\Albums\Revolver\Beatles - 01 - Taxman - 1966
D:\Music\Beatles\Albums\Revolver\Beatles - 02 - Eleanor Rigby - 1966
D:\Music\Beatles\Albums\Revolver\Beatles - 03 - I'm Only Sleeping - 1966
etc....
The tracks are tagged and showing in the Library just as they should but I have no album title in the album column.
Is there a way of adding just the album title via the 'auto-tag from filename' to save me manually filling in the name of each album?
Any help would be truly appreciated. Thank you.......!!!
Auto-tag album titles only

Re: Auto-tag album titles only
Just so I'm understanding you correctly, you wish to add the album title tag information to each track in your music library? This should be achievable using the "Auto-tag from Filename..." feature you've been using. I think the main problem has been configuring the path properly to include the "Albums" folder which you have added under each artist in your library.
As you've outlined your music library follows this path:
D:\Music\Beatles\Albums\Revolver\Beatles
Or expressed in MediaMonkey auto-tag: \Music\<Artist>\Albums\<Album>\
I think the following path should work:
\Music\<Artist>\Albums\<Album>\<Track#:2>-<Title>-<Date>
I think that will generate the album name from the album folder and add it to the tag information. If not, try amending the Auto-tag path slightly, but be sure to include the Album folder you have added under each artist in your library.

Re: Auto-tag album titles only
Hi Squargle,
Thank you for responding.
I tried your suggestion but still no 'Album' title appears.
I tried amending the Auto-tag path slightly, as you said, but still no luck.
I really don't get it!!
Anything else I could try?
Thanks again.

Re: Auto-tag album titles only
I just tried it out myself and it worked for me.
I put an album on my desktop under the same directory system as you:
C:\...\Desktop\Ten Foot Pole\Albums\Swill
I then erased the Album name from the tags, to simulate your predicament, and used the Auto-tag feature to add it back by using the "<Artist>\Albums\<Album>\<Track#:2>-<Title>-<Date>" path.
Here's a print screen below:

You can see that the album folder name "Swill" has been tagged onto the Album column under the tracks (highlighted in yellow). When you press "OK" the album name appears in MediaMonkey as the album information has been tagged. Is that want you wanted to achieve?
