Temporary directory, location of

In an effort to optimize the efficiency of my MM installation, and enjoy a better experience overall, I am wondering:

Should my Temporary directory (Options; General) be set to a location that resides on my local drive,
or to a location on my external drive (which is where 100% of my music files reside) ?

Probably best in your user folder on the local drive.
