Album Ratings

Hi,

Any chance of considering an album rating system? Sometimes it'd be nice to be able to have a selection of highly rated albums playing, even if some of the tracks on the albums were not all that great.

In fact possibly even an album rating based on the average rating of the tracks on it. Heck there's probably a 100 ways of doing it but the key things is saying "Dark Side of the Moon by Pink Floyd is a 5-star album", irrespective of the rating of each track on it.

It'd need sorting by album rating and all that jazz added but letting MM loose on say 50 top-rated albums, and hence 100's of songs would be great. I'm getting a little too familiar with my currently top-rated songs.

You can even rename the field to Album Rating

Although my Custom 1 field is used to indicate tracks that are particular good to play along to on the guitar...

Hence a standardised Album Rating field would be cool - I'd hate to have to convert Custom 2 fields to album ratings at some point in the future

One feature I've wanted that no one seems to have is the ability to pick a random album and give me all the tracks off that album. In the dreamiest of dream-worlds the album chosen would be weighted by Album Rating so that I'd be more like to get 5 than a 1.

I typically load my 1GB MP3 player with 8 hours of randomness and 2-3 whole albums. Currently the albums have to be picked manually. I want my media manager to pick the albums.

The artist rating would useful mainly as a base rating for new tracks that have been brought in but not rated individually yet. It would be nice to have the new Foo Fighters jump into the random list (it's weighted by rating and un-rated stuff is banned) without me having to go set a per-song rating.

MM does have the ability to select by RANDOM ALBUM, albeit without any album ratings. Check out the SORT options to the right when you create an auto-playlist.

I found the Random Album option right after my earlier post. It will randomly select albums but it won't select the whole album.

I'd like to be able to "give me three albums" and have it pick three albums at random (preferably weighted by a rating but I can live without) and then get me ALL the songs on those albums. Currently it just fetches 20 minutes or 60 meg or whatever and stops mid-album.
