Adding to playlist on iPod...

Post by octopus3d »

I have read as many posts as I can on the subject and am probably missing something obvious, so forgive me if I double post.

I mainly rip audiobooks to throw onto the iPod and never really bother with playlists, but I am having trouble figuring out how to add to a playlist, or have MM see that that book is already on the iPod. For example:

In the MM Library I may have the following Audio and entered into Playlists.

Playlist - Audiobooks.Fiction
Audiobook123
Audiobook456
Audiobook789

Playlist - Audiobooks.Kids
Spiderman001
Batman002
SesameStreet

I then right click on the playlist and select Send to ->iPod (correct?)

Now, I have another ripped audiobook (Silversurfer003) and entered it into the MM library and also added to the Audiobooks.Kids playlist (in MM). Please explain the appropriate workflow to add (Silversurfer003) to the Audiobooks.Kids playlist ON THE iPOD that was created when I initially "right-clicked and selected Send To -> iPod.
Or even after reading the stickies and tutorials in the Forum, am I just missing the point entirely?

In addition, am I correct in thinking that things that are not in the MM library, cannot be dragged onto the iPod (as in iTunes)? Not a big deal but I want to stop spending time trying things that are not possible and correct the things that are.

Have a musical day. :-?

P.S. I am not using Autosync and would prefer a drag & drop solution (I think that anyway).

The only way to add a track to a playlist on an iPod is to add it to the playlist in MM and then update the iPod with the playlist. The easiest way to do this is to use the auto-sync list with the playlists that you want to keep in sync with the iPod checked.
