Delay or crash when deleting album art

I am experiencing long delays and sometimes complete crashes when I delete album art. Any idea why?

Are you doing it over the network?

Version 3.2.4.1304 but it's happened on the last few versions. Just notice it more with all the work i'm doing with it these days.
I'm running XP 32bit on an old ThinkPad R51
I am not running it over a network, just have my files on an external hard drive.

Maybe there's a connectivity problem with your drive, try modifying the art on a track copied to the local disk.
