tranferring database between computers

Post by cbell2112 »

I am sure you have heard it before. I have a new pc and need to transfer my database. I read the wiki link but really have no clue on "running scripts". Is that the only way to make this work? I got as far as transferring the file into the correct folder and my database shows up but does not link properly to the file. The database shows my music as:

C://My Music/Band Name

currently it is

F://My Music/Band Name

If I move everything to the C: drive will it start working properly? Don't want to start only to find out it was a waste.

Thanks for any help.

No it won't work if you move the files. You'll need to follow the wiki and use the DriveID script.

Since I couldn't understand the script part, I found this and it actually worked which is a minor miracle, imo.

Minor miracle? Why? It's the same site listed in MM's FAQ: http://www.mediamonkey.com/support/inde ... ticleid=65

Well, I didn't come across that particular post plus this isn't a normal activity for me so the likelihood for misinterpretation is high. Worked out though which is great. I've run into a number of problems today getting things to work on Windows 7 64 bit.
