offline songs appear as online with URL in the media field

Post by guest »

[MM B1 Gold, WinXp Pro SP2 and all the updates]

I just found 3 songs that are offline (on a data CD) but are listed as online (accessible). The path is "[cd label]\path\file.mp3" (the correct CD label) and in the media column there's "URL" instead of the volume label. Trying to play the songs marks them as inaccessible but the path and media stay as before.

I have no idea if it happened with B1, or with the latest 2.4 (the specific CDs were burned before B1). B1 was installed over the latest 2.4 (no alphas).

Why these 3 songs out of the thousands on offline CDs? No idea. They, or their db records, didn't get any special treatment.

The easiest will probably be if you e-mail me your MediaMonkey.mdb file (from My Music\MediaMonkey), best of all packed, and let me know which songs you mean.

Figured out how it can happen (repeatable):

A list of songs, some on-disk, some offline on a CD.

I edit the properties of online songs, moving from song to song with the arrow. I reach an offline song and exit the properties dialog (without making any change) using the "ok" button instead of the "cancel":

- I get an error dialog saying "The media {label of cd} is not inserted. It must be inserted to access the file ?:\{file name}. Two buttons - "cancel" and "retry".

- I press "cancel"

- I get a second error dialog saying "Could not find file ?:\{file name}, it will not be moved." Two buttons - "ok" and "cancel"

- I press either button and "URL" appears in the media column (where the CD label was before.

Thanks for the detailed report. We can replicate the problem here.
