Zen Micro Syncing

Post by Guest »

Hello, call me a bonehead but I cannot get my Zen Micro to sync - perhaps I need some guidance.
* First - I have the latest Zen Micro firmware and desktop software (I have no problem accessing it and putting files on it using the Zen software).
* I also have the latest MediaMonkey Beta as well (I am a software developer manager and developer - I am computer literate).
* I believe I have configured MM Portable Devices for Zen Micro correctly.
* When I plug in my Zen Micro windows asks me if I want to "Do nothing, sync with MediaMonkey, and several other alternatives).
* If I select MM, it appears to do nothing other than launch MM? As a matter of fact, if I choose "do nothing" or "sync with MM" nothing happens except that the Zen Micro shows up in the navigator of MM.
* I cannot drag files to it, playlists or anything? If I try it displays the Circle with a line through it?
* If I configure MM to automatically sync when the Zen is attached, MM seems to lock up?

Am I doing something wrong? How do I manually sync MM and Zen Micro? Can't you drag files and / or playlists to MM using MM?

I guess no one is using MM to sync with the Zen Micro since there has been no replies? Thats to bad because that is why I purchased MM was because the Zen had no good alternatives. This is a loss for the Zen Micro community.

Tried searching "Zen Micro" on this forum?
Extensions: ExternalTools, ExtractFields, SongPreviewer, LinkedTracks, CleanImport, and some other scripts (Need Help with Addons > List of All Scripts).

There seems to be some problem with auto synchronization on connect of WMDM devices (like Zen Micro) and so until it's resolved in the next release you must manually start synchronization (by clicking the device button).

Well I finally got my Zen Micro to sync by doing it manually. However, I got a question, "Does MM copy a seperate file for each playlist even if you have the file already synced?". Also, I can see my music on the zen micro in the navigation bar of MM but I cannot see the playlists but if I go to the Zen, the playlists are there?

Manual Synching

Post by rusty »

When you synch manually, which I interpret to mean as 'Synching Selected' tracks, MM copies the files regardless of whether they already exist on the device or not.

When you synch via 'Auto-Synchronize' MM does an analysis of what is on the synch list vs what is on the device and only copies the changes.
