I tried a problem someone else was having and seemed to have a different problem. MMA was showing duplicates of tracks. To retry this and come up with a reproducible scenario I :
1) using MM4.1b I right clicked on the phone->Music and selected remove and all
2) after a few minutes I then plugged the phone in and re-sync'd the playlist. The playlist has some 1200 songs in it.
3) after MM4.1b said the sync was complete looked at MMA 'tracks'. It appeared to show the songs correctly. Meaning only 1 of each. But I noticed the little Circle at the top of MMA, by the magnifying glass, was still circling. I started watching the list, being at the very top, and noticed that occasionally a duplicate would pop up.
To be sure that it wasn't still getting info from the computer I disconnected the phone (remember MM4.1b said the sync was complete). Here I sit some 20 minutes later and the little circle is still spinning AND more and more of the files are duplicating.
Edited: System specifics
Windows 7 all current patches
MMA 1.0095
MM 4.1.0.1622
Things i have checked.
1) with MMA running and the little circle spinning, backed out until I was back at Andorid primary window.
2) I have started winamp to look at the 'tracks'. Winamp did not see any duplicates and the ones I tried play correctly.
3) I exicted Winamp and started MMA. At this point the little circle was no longer spinning. But I still have a lot of duplicates.
My guess is that IF i had stayed in MMA and let the circle continue to spin ... then ALL the tracks would have been at least doubled.
Once again I completely scrubbed MMA/phone music and then re-sync'd a playlist. The little spinning circle seems to happen every time I sync.
Happy to give any other info or try any other scenario that is needed.
Thanks

Re: Multiple 'same' track on new sync
I have seen a similar symptom, which turned out to be, in fact, multiple copies of each track on the phone. I have been deleting the MediaMonkey and Music folders entirely with each new version since, and not seen that problem again—but that's a pain, too, since I lose all my sync settings every time.
Re: Multiple 'same' track on new sync
Thanks for that MCow but as mentioned in both cases I completely removed all tracks. MMA and Winamp both confirm that there are no tracks. Then Sync'd the play list again. The playlist, according to MM does not have duplicates (well about a dozen as there are a couple of 'greatest hits' albums BUT not like every song.
Also, MM4.1.0095 does not show multiples AND Winamp does not show multiples.
I notice today, I just started computer and plugged in phone. It asked and I accepted launch of MM to sync phone. It then came up saying "Synchronizing Samsung Galaxy S3: (Copying 127 of 1511: .. song name).
NOTE: there have been no changes to the playlist. There is no reason to be copying anything. Probably will end up with 3 of everything <sigh>
Guess I just need to open a Bug Report.
Thanks

Re: BUG: Multiple 'same' track on new sync
1) loaded new MM beta 4.1.0.1623
2) uninstalled MMA 1.0.1.0096
3) deleted mm directory on phone
4) went to 'play store' and installed MMA beta 1.0.1.0098
5) Sync'd playlist to MMA
At this point everything appears to be okay. No dupes.
6) took phone off usb for a while then reconnected.
Little sync circle on phone started circling .. and hasn't stopped yet. AND it looks like all songs are duplicating again. At least in the mind of MMA. While this is happening I back out of MMA and go to winamp .. it too shows multiples this time <sigh>.
EDITED: Also, MM beta does not show multiples under the Samsung G3 device.
Edited: checked mma 30 minutes later .. the circle has stopped spinning but now for many songs I have 3 and in some casts 4 songs. They are from the same album so no .. they shouldn't be there. Now going to wipe mma and all media from phone and transfer a couple albums at a time.
I am going to try removing again but it does not appear to be working well at all from MM Beta and MMA beta

Re: BUG: Multiple 'same' track on new sync
If you look at MMW Options | Devices, do you have only one (enabled) entry for the GS3?

Re: BUG: Multiple 'same' track on new sync
Disconnected Samsung from computer (usb)
So last night, in MM 4.1.0.1623 I,
1) removed the auto-sync from the Samsung
2) deleted playlist used for samsung sync
on samsung, using MMA 1.0.1.0096 I,
1) went into Albums
2) selected all albums
3) deleted all albums
4) check songs to be sure they were all gone
5) closed MMA
6) deleted MMA
7) using Astro filemanager deleted MediaMonkey folder (why didn't it clean this up?)
8 ) using Astro filemanager went into MUSIC folder and selected all album folders (why didn't this get cleaned up?)
9) using Astro filemanager deleted all selected folders
Then re-installed MMA
1) went to playstore and searched for Mediamonkey Beta
2) installed, accepted all prompts
3) started MMA (main not widgets) and checked that there was no known music
Now to reload songs ...
1) Plugged Samsung to Computer
2) MM finds samsung ... does not try to sync
3) Create new playlist
4) add 1500+ songs to playlist
5) instead of Sync I right-click playlist and Sent To ... select Samsung
6) at end of sync I check phone and only one of every song AND little circle is not spinning.
This AM i boot the computer and it automatically starts MM and finds Samsung. Watching MMA I notice that the circle stops spinning after approx 20 seconds. This is very different from when auto-sync has been turned on.
It *seems* that as long as Auto Sync is not turned on I do not get duplicate songs.

Re: BUG: Multiple 'same' track on new sync
Just loaded build 100 - Here are the process/results for duplicate songs so far. Note: for this process my Phone was plugged into my computer (usb)
1) uninstall app from phone
2) MediaMonkey folder from both internal memory and addon card
3) Google Playstore Install
On first starting MMA there was a long pause (15-20 seconds) then the acceptance and to the 'primary' screen. I am thinking the pause was caused by MMA building the db from what it found in music. What ever the case may be it might be nice to have MMA put up a message so the user will know it is actually doing something.
It appeared to build the db correctly. On display of tracks there were no duplicated. Good.
Here I sit, just a several minutes later, and still the little circle is spinning. Is this "syncing"? If it is syncing they why doesn't MM know about it? ... and still the circle spins.
In previous releases the continued syncing would signal the creation of duplicates but thankfully that is fixed ... YEAH Developers.
But still it spins ...
Edited: So here we are some time later and still it spins. I have unplugged my phone (usb). I have turned off MMA (backed out but still playing, checked Phone Settings) Back into MMA and it i spinning. Backed out of mma again after stopping the playback, started and still spinning. Went to phone/settings/manage applications/MM/Force stop. Waited a few seconds, started MMA and it is still spinning. Someone stop this crazy ride
