[bug#10535] - iPod Autosync only copies 1 track
Moderator: Gurus
[bug#10535] - iPod Autosync only copies 1 track
Environment.
Win7 x64 - SP1, MediaMonkey 4.1.0.1624
iPod Nano, Model: MB751LL, Version: 1.0.4 PC
Regardless of how many items are selected to keep synced in the Auto-Sync settings for my iPod, only 1 track is synced to the device. In the example logged and captured here, I set auto-sync to sync all tracks by the artist 113 (seven tracks), but only the first track is actually synced.
If I manually sync, (drag or send to) files are copied properly.

Re: 1624 - iPod Autosync only copies 1 track
I have the same problem, except I had selected 5 auto-playlists, and only 3 tracks are copied to my iPhone. (it should be 1000+ tracks). I used the same database with same sync criteria in 4.0.7 and it copied all the tracks as expected.

Re: [bug#10535] - iPod Autosync only copies 1 track
Could you please re-generate the log this way:
1. Start DbgView
2. Start MM
3. Perform sync
4. Save the log
And could you ensure that all 7 tracks from the artist 113 are playable in MM?
Thank you.

Same problem reported here with earlier builds:
http://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewto ... =6&t=69748
Just confirmed that build 4.1.0.1624 still shows the problem.

Re: [bug#10535] - iPod Autosync only copies 1 track
This doesn't sound as the same issue, in this case you probably just installed MM 4.1 as portable and thus it created new MM.DB and considers all the tracks as not synced by MM? Did you instal MM 4.1 as portable?Heureka wrote:Same problem reported here with earlier builds:

If you delete all files from the device using MM 4.1 and re-sync them using MM 4.1, does the problem still appear?

Re: [bug#10535] - iPod Autosync only copies 1 track
Since my other thread was locked I post the some of a dgblog here:
It appears to me that most of the files are correcly recognized as already present on the device and this not considered for syncing. Please note that the files with filesnames like PSSU.mp3, NPVD.mp3, etc. are Podcasts synced with iTunes. However, it seems strange that after those files a burst of messages follows that indicate a lot of files get marked for deletion.

Re: [bug#10535] - iPod Autosync only copies 1 track
OK, but you haven't replied my previous question.
Did you install MM 4.1 as portable version?
If yes, then it doesn't remember that this files were synced by MM and thus it wants to delete them.
Try to install MM 4.1 as regular version and I guess that it will no longer suggest the tracks to delete.
Another way is to delete them from device and re-sync by using MM 4.1

But looking at the log again the files are not on the sync-list, are you sure that the same files are presented on sync-list ??

Re: [bug#10535] - iPod Autosync only copies 1 track
I installed MM 4.1 over my previous version and it is using my existing database.
I enabled the verification popup that asks for what files to delete before syncing. It lists nearly every file on my device (~2200). Most of the files come from playlists which show all the files I want on the iPod device. MM somehow deselects those files from syncing and it turn puts them on the deletion list.
Maybe I should also mention that the playlists that end up on the iPod show hundreds of duplicate entries...

Re: [bug#10535] - iPod Autosync only copies 1 track
According to the log it really seems that the files were on sync-list, were synced to device, but are no longer presented on the sync-list and thus MM suggests to delete them.
Are you sure that they are really selected on the list?
How you selected them, as an auto-playlist? Isn't it a large auto-playlist that is randomly sorted and somehow limited in size (this could select another set of tracks on each sync).
If you run MM 4.0.7 and try to sync, do you say that MM 4.0.7 doesn't suggest to delete the tracks?
What you mean by duplicate entries? Do you mean same tracks copied to the device under different file paths?
Could you put here an example of such a duplicate?

Re: [bug#10535] - iPod Autosync only copies 1 track
Yes, I can go back to 4.0.7 and auto-sync all playlists successfully. If you run MM 4.0.7 and try to sync, do you say that MM 4.0.7 doesn't suggest to delete the tracks?
My largest playlist is about 7GB. It is not an auto-playlist. When I go to the "Auto-Sync (-->Device)" view and deselect this playlist the capacity bar doesn't change notably. It goes down maybe by 0.1GB. Hovering the mouse over the name confirms that the list is 7GB large. If MM really was aware that all these files on the device belong to that playlist I would expect the capacity to drop by 7GB. The small change however tells me that in this view already the playlist is somewhat stripped to just a few files. Are you sure that they are really selected on the list?

I haven't acually tried completing the sync with 1624 and aborted at the deletion dialog. But from the previous build I have seen the same behaviour. It resulted in a device with all playlists showing up on the device but when opening one of them on the iPod touch it was listing the same track over and over again, many hundred times. The track was copied over to the device but obviously it replaced all the other tracks in the playlist. In total maybe only a dozen of files were synced (about one per playlist). What you mean by duplicate entries? Do you mean same tracks copied to the device under different file paths?
Could you put here an example of such a duplicate?
I guess if the playlists are mis-linked to the same file it does explain why all the other files were marked for deletion.
Re: [bug#10535] - iPod Autosync only copies 1 track
Thanks for the info.
Actually you are probably right that it is the same issue, looking at the log from nohitter151 there is something wrong with creating iPod filenames (e.g. \iPod_Control\Music\F02\.mp3 ), MM 4.1 seems to create them wrongly and this seems to be root of the issues.
To be fixed as http://www.ventismedia.com/mantis/view.php?id=10535

Re: [bug#10535] - iPod Autosync only copies 1 track
Original poster here
I can confirm Heureka's behavior:
It appears when I attempted to autosync a playlist, fruit_music, MM creates a sync list where each song - apple.mp3, banana.mp3, orange.mp3
is mistakenly given the wrong track name Apple - apple.mp3, Banana - apple.mp3, Orange - apple.mp3
When the sync occurs, MM deletes every track on the device that is not apple.mp3. So after the sync there is only one track on the device: apple.mp3
It also copies over the playlist but when viewed on the iPod there are three items listed: all are apple.mp3, because this is how MM translated the file for each track on the original list.
Is see the bug report has been created: To be fixed as http://www.ventismedia.com/mantis/view.php?id=10535
Is it at all worthwhile to add the summary above to the report?
I can grab a full debug log as well, if its useful.
I can confirm Heureka's behavior:
I'll try to summarize the behavior.

Re: [bug#10535] - iPod Autosync only copies 1 track
Any chance this is related to the issue I was and still am having on all of my IOS 6 devices (Iphone, ipod touch 4th gen and ipad 2nd gen all on ios 6.1)
Seems if a track has the same artist and title even though it may be from a different album, MM will only sync one of the song.
Example
Artist 1 - Song - Studio Album
Artist 1 - Song - Live Album
Only one of these songs will sync even though they are both supposed to sync.
If I change the info for the second song to
Artist 1 - Song (Live) - Live Album
Then they both sync fine.
I thought it was something I was doing wrong but double and triple checked and it's not a fluke because it exhibits the same behavior on all these devices.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. It sounds very similar in mechanism as to what is described in this post save the fact that it's ios devices and not a nano.
Thanks Guys
