Burning problem with 2.51.927

Post by rick_dallas »

Just downloaded new beta. Looks good. Went to burn my first MP3. Got the following error message:

Burning was not successful: Could not write the image layout to the disk.

The burning process starts and after it runs for awhile, this error comes up. Anyone else getting this? Thoughts on fixes?

Yes.

I burned two data CDs, each one twice (backup) and everything was ok. I got the message you mentioned on the 3rd CD. At first I thought it was a problem with the blank CD or the drive, and I ended with 5 CDs in the trash can. But repeating the process made me realize that MM was getting stuck at the same place each time, though I couldn't pinpoint the song file, as the names on the status bar were running too fast.

I didn't have time to explore it further and I simply burned the CD with Nero express (no problems)

Could you please create a debug log of the problem and also e-mail us your 'My Music'\MediaMonkey\MediaMonkey.mdb' file and indicate what set of tracks you were trying to burn?

However, the most important thing is definitely the debug log.

Thanks for your help,
Jiri

In my case it won't be before tomorrow night or Thursday night (the specific files are already off the HD and the CDs in storage). Maybe rick_dallas or someone else can do it sooner [and if so let me know - I can use those late night hours for sleep :)]

I have emailed support@mediamonkey with all of the information you requested. Let me know if there is any other info you need to resolve this.

Thanks.

Thanks for the quick email response.

However, I have downloaded RC2 this morning and am still getting the same results both with the normal version of MM and the debug version. I emailed Russell with the same files from today as I provided him on December 20. Let me know if there is any additional info you need from me.

CD burning

Post by rusty »

It appears that this problem may be related to the fact that the CD being burnt is at the threshold of what the CD can hold and MM is calculating the space used incorrectly.

Please try again, but remove a few tracks beforehand.

CD burning

Another possible (more likely?) problem is if you are attempting to burn tracks that are actually stored to a CD then the burn operation cannot proceed.

Sorry, I read your last post but it didn't make any sense to me.

All of the tracks I want to burn to my CD are stored on my hard drive in MP3 format. Not sure if that's what you mean or not.

I did sent Russell (Rusty??) an email with an update just now. Looks like calculation of space is where the problem lies but the calculation is so far off, maybe the problem lies elsewhere.
