Synch download count overstated

Post by Barry4679 »

I am testing synch via wifi.

I have n tracks already synced and loaded into the tablet. I then add another album of say 10 tracks via the MMW Device Profile's Auto_Synch (-> Library) facility. When I trigger the synch operation on the tablet it displays a "Downloading" status message during the conversion & downloading. The message says x/n+10, rather than x/10, which is disconcerting.

MMW 4.1.0.1630
MMA: 1.0.4.0121

Update: ignore above. That happened once, but not now. I am seeing some weirdness with MMA synch options Delete Unselected Content Copies & Auto-synch device content, but the above doesn't properly describe it. Albums not being deleted on the tablet as expected. Synch reporting that it has completed, when it doesn't seem to be the case. I will investigate further later. ... Is ok if you delete this post|thread in the meantime.

I was having a few issues with wifi synch.

As a test I tagged a few albums with a distinctive genre, and then requested that that genre and a few other albums be kept synchronised via the device profile on MMW.

I then moved albums in and out of the requested genre, and added and deleted albums from the requested list.

I was seeing quite a few issues, such as missing tracks, albums which would not be purged from the tablet, even though they were no longer required, and would be re-synch even if manually deleted. Also slow transfers, and a ridiculously long "Analysing synch list" step.

I tried deleting my Device Profile on MMW, and started afresh.

All working well now, and fast too. :D

There is one issue that i still see. The transfer by Genre synch criteria only seems to search from amongst tracks in the Music tree, ie. it ignores matches in the Classical Music tree.

My error. I now see that it is possible to specify auto-synch rules per collection (ie. Music vs Classical Music etc)
