[BUGS] v130 - Album/Artwork/Artist Issues

I'm having a couple of strange issues, still present in v130.

First, some artists do not display artwork in the Artists view, despite that any/all albums under that artists DO show artwork.

Second, some albums are being broken up between the artist and an "Unknown artist" section, and I cannot figure out why. My tags (both artist and album artist) are impeccable, and these listings are correct in other music apps on my phone.

FWIW, I synced via USB cable, not wireless.

I also have this issue on a Motorola Razr HD Maxx 4.12, MMA 1.36. I tried finding this issue in the bug report, but I don't see anything listed when I click on the link to Mantis.

Due the fact that MMW and MMA depends on correct entering of ALBUM ARTIST that can explain Unknown Artist issue where Album Artist is missing.

Other apps mostly depend on ARTIST tag and ALBUM tag to recognize ALBUM. This is in most cases OK unless you have compilation Albums where ARTIST is different for each track and ALBUM ARTIST is "Various", same thing apply to Albums that contain Duets or Multiple artists.

Please let us know if this is the case.

I'm not sure if this is what Peke was trying to say, but currently (as of build 136), there's a bug that causes artwork to not appear for compilation albums (i.e. albums in which at least 1 track has an Album Artist |= Artist). Could that be the case for you?

Note: the bug is linked to a couple of other bugs re. other problems that also appear in compilation albums that may be related to the Albums being 'broken up'.

Thanks for the reply Rusty. The link that you provided does capture what I am seeing.

I do not agree with the closing comment though "Btw, if we think that it makes sense to not show artwork in the Artists node for Artists that aren't the Album Artist". I would much prefer that the artwork of the track be displayed with the artist for compilation albums.

This was fixed in build 140 (and you can ignore the final comment in the initial bug report--that was a suggested backup approach).
