is it possible to disable mouse hover info popups in MM?

Post by sam8988378 »

I fled from WMP because the mouse hover popup boxes were way too distracting, obscured content, irrelevant, and harder to kill than cockroaches. I was willing to put up with Musicmatch sucking up resources, paying more attention to selling music & connecting to it's website than burning my cd. But mm does popup yellow info boxes wherever my cursor goes.
I found MediaMonkey had happy users, so decided to try it. As my cursor passes over my musiclist, up pops song title after song title, all in the accursed yellow boxs. Isn't there any way to stop this?

I forgot to add that I'm running win xp pro, have done all the standard reg fixes mentioned in win xp newsgroups/found on google. I've rummaged through the registry (way past my level of competence), using "Find" & disabling tooltips, setting tooltip/infotip/mouse hover values to 0, adding NoMouseHover/NoInfoTip/NoTooltip, after previous reg changes didn't work. I set mousehover time to 1800 with no success. After I reboot, I'll see the results when the time is set to 60000. Nothing has worked. Jason Vorhees was easier to kill

Hi sam8988378

It's currently not possible to tum this "feature" off. But it is on the wishlist and has been discussed before. We'll see if it will be introduced in a future version.

I think it is also windows related, isnt it? Because windows is the one that comes up with these tooltips, I thought I might have seen somewhere that you can turn the tooltips in windows, but I dont know where...

Looking for this: http://www.theeldergeek.com/tool_tip_displays.htm ?
(or http://tech-galaxy.tripod.com/common/tooltips.html )

I don't know if this disables ALL tooltips or just those of explorer.

you can also try: http://www.activewin.com/tips/reg/interface_1.shtml
and http://www.codeproject.com/tools/killtt.asp (download the compiled project from http://home.tiscali.be/ruben.castelein/ ... binary.zip if you don't want to sign in )

BTW: I haven't tried any of these!

Thanks Steegy! I've been to the code project before, and actually joined, so I could ask questions. This code is new, and I'm going to try it. I'll let you know how it turns out.

And thank you to the other responders (I didn't open the reply in a new window, & forgot names). All the reg fixes mentioned have already been done. All I succeeded in doing was disabling start menu tooltips, and losing the mouseover popup date from my taskbar :( . However, if this regfix works, I'll just put up a calendar.

This is requested quite often, we plan to add such an option in the next version.
