album art inconsistant [#11919]

Post by dkstott »

I'm using 1.04.0227 version of MMA

The album art displays perfectly when viewing "albums", "artists & Album Artists", "Artists" & "Album Artists"

it still is displayed when you choose one of those options.

BUT the display of Album art becomes very inconsistant in MMA during "NOW PLAYING".

All of my album art was tagged using Media Monkey for Windows ( latest beta version), so there should be no conflict in the connection of album art to the folders.

I can't seem to find a rhyme or reason for it.

Thoughts?

Hi,

I don't notice any anomalies (tested on Nexus 5/Kitkat), but it might help if you provide a bit more information:
- When you click Tracks from the home screen and scan through all the _individual_ tracks, do you see all of the artwork?
- When you click the first track from the list above, all tracks should be added to the Now Playing list. When you look at the Now Playing _list_ do tracks appear with their artwork? Or is the artwork only missing when you look at the Now Playing _Art_ view?
- Or do you mean that Art is missing for some tracks in the lock screen player?

Thanks.

as best I can tell, the artwork disappears when you select the individual tracks. it does not re-appear if you fast forward to the next track either.

artwork is displayed properly in every step up until the point that you select a specific track and play it.

it's not every album that does it... I tried to compare files, etc and can't seem to find a commonality for it.

just downloaded the latest update and it's still there...

On a Galaxy 3 and Note 10.1 and not seeing this. My understanding is it is when you have selected TRACKS then when playing from one track to the next that is when you notice the artwork off? Does this happen in random/sequential or both? Also wondering can you reproduce. For example playing track1->2->3 and then on 3 the artwork is wrong. If you go back to 1->2->3 is it wrong again? Although the new update did mess up some stuff .. like why do we now need to have the flash go off all the time for messages??? .. glad it hasn't messed with MMA for me

it's pretty consistant.... if one track in a album is missing the album art, then all of them are missing it.

It's almost like the link between the album art to the individual tracks was somehow broken during sync between MMW and MMA.

it's just strange that it only happened to some of the CD's on my Galaxy S4. (All my music is MP3 format, ripped and burned with album art syncing using MMW.)

Later today, I'm going fire up MMW & re-do the sync of artwork to a few of the CD's that are "flakey" , then re-sync them to my Galaxy S4 and see what happens.

Hi Dave,

I appreciate the ongoing feedback, but I'm still kind of unclear as to what is happening :-(

It sounds as if _selecting_ a track is the trigger for the album art to disappear, but on the other hand it sounds as if playing the tracks causes the artwork to disappear. Also I'm unclear as to whether the Artwork disappears from all views or only specific views. Also how exactly does the content get to the device in the first place (copy, wi-fi sync, usb sync)?

It would be really helpful if you described the exact sequence of events (clearly indicating the context--i.e. which view) that triggers the bug. And then, once you've triggered the bug, to submit a debug log (via Options > Send logs) to help us understand what is going on (post the log ID to this thread once it's submitted).

Thanks so much!

I'm experiencing the same. It seems that MMA pick a random art most of the time.

Right now MMA is using three album arts for all my songs, regardless of the artist.

It is happening in two of my devices.

I appreciate the feedback--but since we're not able to replicate the problem, I need more details to solve it. Please see my previous post that describes the kind of information that would help us solve this.

Thanks!!

I'm sorry rusty, but I really don't know what's happening.

I can't say if there is a trigger or not, because the moment I noticed it already has happened, and I just bought a new device. The artwork is messed in all views. I did the first sync by USB, so MM could recognize my phone and I could set the sync detais, and after that just by wi-fi.

If you could tell me a sequence I could follow to test I will do it and post back.

You may want to start with a clean slate (remove all files) on the device to make sure that any syncs done by previous versions of MMA or MMW aren't causing the problem.

Yes, please try clean state and then try the same sequence as before. I.e.:
1. Clean the device
2. Try usb sync
3. Is artwork missing ? If yes, please send me a log from Options->Send logs and post log id here. Otherwise continue.
4. Try wifi sync
3. Is artwork missing ? If yes, please send me a log from Options->Send logs and post log id here

Thank you!

The only way that I've been able to get chunks of Artwork to disappear is by unmounting the SD card, however, even in that case they re-appear when the SD card is remounted.

But it would be worth checking whether the tracks for which all artwork is disappearing appear on the SD card (vs other tracks on internal memory).

Just to make it clear, my problem is MMA using wrong album art to some artists/songs, not necessarily missing art.

So I cleaned the device, uninstalled MMA, deleted all foders regarding MMA that I found, music and playlists.
Installed MMA again.
Did a USB sync.
Right away I noticed that some artists are showing with wrong album art.

Most of my songs doesn't have album art, but for some reason, MMA seems to pick an existing album art and use it, random.

Sent a log.
Log ID: R4LOLOGJ6L
Description: Album art messed up.

I'll try wi-fi sinc from now on and see if the problem gets worse or not.

my issue has been inconsistant connection of album art to individual tracks while playing the song. AKA "now playing"

all of my music is stored on an HDSC 64G micro SD card...

whatever was done with the latest build of MMA has resolved my issue. Album art is now showing with individual tracks now

THANKS!!

I am also seeing inconsistent artwork. It's been doing this for for the last couple months. But unlike the previous poster, the latest build has not fixed it on my device (T999 Galaxy S3)

I will try wiping all tracks from the device and re-syncing.

Is there a debug log we could provide you that would help?
