How to Never Alter Music files

Post by Whiznot »

I always use Tag&Rename for tagging and I also won't to prevent MMW from ever altering files. I've disabled auto organize and unchecked level track volume and prevent clipping. Is there anything else that I need to do?

That's a good start. Well, let's see, "infer properties" can alter files.

I mean, there isn't any method that guarantees you won't have problems. The safest bet is to make sure
you periodically (often) backup your media files [not just program files (.DB, etc.)]. If you work on them and they are correct,
back 'em up before the next work session. I'm somewhat obsessive about backups, but I don't backup after every single work session.
I usually backup after about three work sessions. However, if I'm working on something that was particularly difficult/lengthy or that
I consider critcal, I will backup as soon as I'm done.

Having been around since 2005 or even earlier, you probably already know this. Although, others searching may not.

Thanks for the reply.

I didn't have infer track properties disabled so I changed that option.

Would making music files and folders read only prevent them from being altered without adversely affecting Mediamonkey?

Yes, you can make it read-only and MediaMonkey will still play the files.
