tag changes do not update in sync

Post by mahkitah »

When I change the tags of a track with mp3tag, that track isn't updated in the sync destination.
I've read older threads with similar problems but it's still not working.

-Mp3tag changes the time stamp
-MM library folders are scanned at start-up and continuously
-Options > Library: 'Update file info from Tags when rescanning files' is selected
-Deleted files and changed file names are properly synced

What am I missing?

Are the tags showing the changes in MediaMonkey itself and has the Timestamp on the files been changed when they were tagged?

Checked it again, and yes to both.

What are you syncing to and how are you syncing? Also are you using MediaMonkey 4.1.3?

Using latest version (4.1.3.1708) downloaded today.

For testing purposes I'm syncing to a folder an a local HDD.
I'm syncing FLACs and mp3's
I do the syncing by clicking on the arrows symbol behind the device in the tree. Or by clicking 'auto-sync' in the toolbar with the device selected.

Then you may want to capture the sync in a debug log (step 4b) and send the log to support: http://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewto ... ?f=12&t=69

Have not sent the bug report yet.
I did some further experimenting, and the sync works properly if, after the tag change, I delete that track (from library only) and then rescan the library folders. Said track appears again > sync > proper update of target folder.

-only a rescan after the tag change is not enough
-it doesn't matter if the tag change is done by MM or other application (like mp3tag), the result is the same.

Maybe this gives some better insight in where the problem lies. If not, I will send the bug report.

6 years later, but I think this issue still exists.

If I update some tag information (just change the date or album art or something like that) in Media Monkey, the timestamp of that file is also updated. But if I then auto-sync to a phone/tablet using Media Monkey, when the file already exists on the target device, this file isn't updated. The timestamp on the target isn't changed, and the tag isn't changed.

If I first delete the file on the target, and then sync, then the updated file gets copied across. So I'm sure the tag is being updated correctly on the PC, and I also double-checked this using mp3tag.

During the sync, I can see Media Monkey shows (tag) in parentheses, in front of the filename. And the syncing runs much faster (further showing that the file isn't actually updated).
