MediaMonkey 2.5.3 Bug fix release

We're starting a short test cycle for MediaMonkey 2.5.3, a minor bug fix release that resolves the most pressing issues you've raised over the last month.

View the last post in this thread to get to the current beta.

As usual, feedback is much appreciated.

What's new in 2.5.3.954?
  • - Fixed cannot read WMA tag that has a write-protect flag
    - Fixed IE proxy configuration is sometimes read incorrectly
    - Fixed burning method is sometimes blank in unskinned mode
    - Fixed problems with gapless playback of MP3s / streaming issues
    - Fixed synchronization: changed iPod ratings and playcounts sometimes aren't updated in Library
    - Fixed synchronization: Album Art not synchronized to Samsung YP-25
    - Fixed synchronization with Rio Karma
    - Fixed some jpg files cause an error #67
    - Fixed scanning of some corrupted MP3 tracks
    - Fixed writing tags to some non-standard FLAC tracks
    - Fixed volume leveling info not written correctly for APE tracks
    - Fixed burning method dropdown can be empty

MediaMonkey 2.5.3.956 (RC-1)

RC-1 fixes a few more pressing issues. Unless any major regressions are discovered, this should be the final release.

As usual, feedback is much appreciated.

What's new in 2.5.3.956?
  • - Added Synchronization, Playlist, and Burn buttons can have tracks dropped onto them
    - Added Send to device (synchronize) function
    - Improved OGG encoding with new aoTuVb4.51 encoder
    - Improved Field@1 mask should ignore prefixes
    - Fixed various CD/DVD Burning issues with update to burn engine
    - Fixed CD Audio TAO burns have extra four seconds between tracks
    - Fixed iPod browsing occasionnaly triggers access violation
    - Fixed in place editing is overly sensitive, starting unnecessarily
    - Fixed column auto-resize doesn't work well for ratings column
    - Fixed pre-amp value doesn't properly persist
    - Fixed playback doesn't start sometimes after d&d and doubleclick

RC-2 fixes all known remaining critical issues (along with a couple of gimmes). Special thanks to everyone who's tested the last RC. Again, unless any major regressions are discovered, this should be the final release.

As usual, feedback is much appreciated.

What's new in 2.5.3.959?
  • - Fixed MP3 VBR encoding can produce overly high bitrates
    - Fixed freeze/lockup that occurs when tagging while ripping 2 CDs
    - Fixed scanning MP3 can trigger an Access Violation in rare scenarios
    - Fixed iPod Smartlists are unnecessarily converted to Playlists
    - Fixed regression: sorting by column header truncates column text
    - Fixed problems with folders starting with spaces
    - Fixed Find More from Same Folder (Computer) for network paths

RC-3 fixes one major thread locking bug that's been around for awhile, but only became apparent with some of the fixes in RC-2, plus a couple of other minor changes and fixes. Again, thank you to all who are taking the time to report problems and ensure that this is the best MediaMonkey yet.

What's new in 2.5.3.963?
  • - Added profile for SwiMP3 devices (v2)
    - Added iPod synchronization support for bookmarking when Genre = Podcast
    - Fixed synchronization: Copy .m3u Playlist setting is ignored
    - Fixed thread locking bug (synch lockup, auto-organize issue, etc.) exposed by fixes in RC-2
    - Fixed burning: DVD+RW isn't erased correctly
    - Fixed burning: DVD free space is inaccurate
    - Fixed burning regression: MP3 CD/DVD creation fails in RC-2
    - Fixed showing of empty cells in statistics script

MediaMonkey 2.5.3.968 RC-4

RC-4 fixes a few issues, including a few major CD Burning bugs, a significant tagging bug, along with a couple of streaming audio changes. If all goes well, this will become the official release. As usual, thanks for the detailed suggestions and bug reports--they have helped us make this the best MediaMonkey yet.

Let us know what you think (we'd especially appreciate rapid feedback on the CD/DVD burning).

What's new in 2.5.3.968?
  • - Added username/password support for secure streams (e.g. via Slim Server)
    - Updated online help
    - Fixed iPod synchronization/auto-conversion can cause tracks to stop prematurely (when size of auto-converted track > size of source track)
    - Fixed connected MTP devices can prevent MediaMonkey from shutting down correctly
    - Fixed CD/DVD burning on some burners (update to burn engine v1.98 )
    - Fixed DVD burning doesn't show accurate available burn speeds
    - Fixed Album Art tagging can fail if initiated when track is already in tagging queue
    - Fixed streams from Slimserver don't always display metadata on track change
    - Fixed regregression with Preview functionality

Just a quick note to announce that MediaMonkey 2.5.3.968 (previously known as RC-4) has been officially released. Thanks to everyone who participated in the beta--I really believe that this release is the most solid yet.
