Hi, newbie needs advice

Post by JamesD21 »

Hi,

I'm re-entering portable digital music after a couple of years. I don't want to go back to Ipods and Apple. I'm hoping for some advice about what DAP I should buy. Right now I'm trying to decide between Cowon Plenue D (not D2) and xDuoo X3II. What I want to do is use MediaMonkey to organize my music. I have a fair amount of music, mostly jazz and classical with some rock and soul, movie soundtracks, and podcasts. My question is if I can use Media Money to make playlists choosing selections across my whole library and transfer those playlists straight onto the DAP, i.e., not making them again using the DAP's internal system.

Also, can I use Media Monkey on my desktop to randomly play within genres?

I run Windows 8 and am trying really hard not to get 10.

I'm sorry if all this is in FAQs and I didn't see it. Thanks for any advice you want to give!

Hi,
I can't Confirm info on Cowon Plenue D OS, but from pics it looks like it is Custom version of android.

On other side xDuoo X3II uses confirmed custom version of Android and in theory it could install MMA (Amazon Version), but as we do not own device we can't confirm that.

On other side FiiO devices like M6/M7/M11 can install MMA (based on user feedback and FiiO Site where the list whitelisted apps) and even use WiFi Sync so it is hard choice as ATM MMA Pro can't be purchased for those devices (hopefully MMA 2.0 will be available somehow).

Choosing DAP is big issue now and as I have personally found that many Chinese brands work surprisingly well and they globally accepted Android AOSL versions to customize and they work stable. At this moment I am more for an FiiO devices as their support have been very helpful and open to expanding views to user needs, but I say PERSONALLY as there was reports of slow bug fixing and firmware releases.
