WHO DESTROYED MEDIAMONKEY???

Post by Media_Allen »

Long-time MM user, "upgraded" to 5.0.1.2431.
God, what a disaster! It PUT the library IN THE ROOT of the disc? Didn't that end with DOS 3.11? And there's no place to CHANGE IT! Not in "Options". MM knows what the album is, but saved NONE OF IT, just stored "unknown album" -- NICE JOB!

How do I download version 4? That one worked, because this one is obviously not even ready for Alpha testing!

MediaMonkey does not move your Library without it being told to do so. MediaMonkey 5 works the same as MediaMonkey 4 in this regard.

Were all your existing media files moved? If so, check the Auto-Organize settings you've enabled under Tools > Options > Auto-Organize: https://www.mediamonkey.com/wiki/WebHel ... enames/5.0

If you're talking about where a Ripped CD is stored, this is set in the Rip Dialog itself: https://www.mediamonkey.com/wiki/WebHel ... om_CDs/5.0

In either case you can use Tools > Auto-Organize Files to move the files that are currently stored incorrectly.

Are you saying your files lack the Album tag in MediaMonkey? Did you upgrade from MediaMonkey 4 taking the existing MediaMonkey 4 Library into MediaMonkey 5: https://www.mediamonkey.com/support/kno ... r-windows/

Please provide more details if none of this is the case.

Wow - what a disaster. Whenever I try to open MM5 it says it is rebuilding the database library and that it could take some minutes.. I tried to open 4 times and each time waited from 30 minutes to 90 minutes without success.

So I uninstalled MM5 and went back to MM4 which works great.

After certain updates of MediaMonkey the database file will be updated to the newest release, however this only happens the first start after updating.

From your description it isn't entirely clear if this is what is happening or that maybe something like Folder Monitoring is running. The team is here to troubleshoot problems.

Which Build (Help > About) of MediaMonkey 5 did you install and from which version of MediaMonkey did you upgrade? A debug log (step 4b) capturing the problem you're experiencing would help developers analyze why this is happening in your setup: viewtopic.php?f=30&t=86643
