Hi,
UPDATE: Issue you observe with truncated paths is actually designed feature to prevent issues and to overcome path lenghts limitations on some devices during syncing.

https://www.ventismedia.com/mantis/view.php?id=19758 is updated and we are wortking on possible fix for the future versions of MM5

Hi,
Glad to that you sorted, but as we do not know the reason and cause and could not replicate your exact playback issue.

I've created https://www.ventismedia.com/mantis/view.php?id=19758 for further investigation due the fact that I have been able to replicate your filename and path truncate, but not observed any playback issues.

I deliberately used Classical music for testing due the longer Title names so that it easily goes off 250 chars. Steps I used are:
1. Set Mask to "\Classical Music\<Album>\<Conductor>\<Album Artist>\<Title>\<Title> - <Artist>"
2. Sync -> check full path = 259 Chars
3. Ensure it plays in MMA
4. Delete track in MMA
5. Set Mask to"\Classical Music\<Album>\<Composer>\<Conductor>\<Album Artist>\<Title>\<Title> - <Artist>"
6. Sync -> check full path = 203 Chars
7. Ensure it plays in MMA

Only difference is that I used internal build 1064, but there was no changes regarding syncing and naming so 1063 should behave same.

Thank you for patience and all the help you provided in order to get to bottom of this and improve MMA experience.

It's resolved.
Reduced the total number of characters in the original file path.
After syncing, the file name was copied correctly.

I don't know what the maximum total path length and filename length are in Android, but I think this was causing the problem.
thanks

Hi,
Can you please copy/paste your filename mask page from device profile options?
Maybe MM truncate path+filename on sync.

For long filenames, I renamed them to less than 100 characters, but found that some filenames still did not copy properly.

And I found that the mma battery option is gone.

Glad that sync is working!

Can you tell me what device / version of Android you're using (we'd like to examine the permissions issue a bit more to find out why it's being reset)?

Thanks!

Library folder list and permissions have been reset again in mma.

I don't know when this was reset.

But what really pleases me positively is
Synchronization was attempted several times in this state, but no duplicate files were created as before.
And the PC and the number of tracks exactly matched, and when the metadata was modified on the PC, it was perfectly synced to the device.

Thank you. I'm so happy.
I've wasted way too much time on this over the course of a week.

I don't know if my head hurts again later because of the Android sd card permission problem, but now it seems that all problems with synchronization have been solved.

Thank you again.

Fantastic! There were some permission-related fixes in 1061 so it's possible all your issues are fixed. Let us know when you're done testing.

Thanks!

I updated to mma beta 1061.
Library folder list no longer resets when attempting to sync.
I'm so happy.

I deleted all the music files on the sd card and I am re-downloading all the music by wi-fi sync.

When the download is complete, I plan to test whether the file name is copied with the same name and whether duplicate files are created when syncing is attempted again.

I deleted mma's app data and cache
Cleanly deleted all files located in the two paths below on the device and sd card.
/android/data/com.ventismedia.android.mediamonkey
/MediaMonkey/files/

Added folders to library.
And now "scanning files into the library" is in progress.
It will take several hours to complete. Again..
When the scan is complete, I will back up the files in the above two paths.

When I checked before deleting the app data
mmstore.db, storageInfo.xml These files were found in several paths.
device/Android/data/com.ventismedia.android.mediamonkey/files/files
device/MediaMonkey/files/
SD/Android/data/com.ventismedia.android.mediamonkey/files/files

There was also an artwork folder on the SD card that totaled about 600 megabytes.
android/data/com.ventismedia.android.mediamonkey/files/artworks

Anyway, when the scan is complete, I will leave it as it is without taking any actions such as Wi-Fi sync.

I confirmed that mma's library folder is reset even when using USB sync.

It's Wi-Fi sync. I must have confused you. Shall i try using USB sync and see if the same problem occurs?

So to make sure I'm understanding:
When you do a Wi-Fi sync, the initially configured permissions remain.
But then when you initiate a USB sync and then run MMA, the original permissions are lost and you're re-prompted to grant permissions.

Is that right?

I tried connecting mtp, restarting the device, restarting mma, and checking for new/changed media two or three times, but there was no reset of the library folder.

The case where this phenomenon is evident is when sync is attempted.
At first, I found this phenomenon after sync ended, but I just checked and it seems to reset immediately after starting sync.
I checked when I was in the analyzing sync list step, and the library folder list was reset.
And in the next step it will start downloading the files that already exist on the sd card from the server.
It creates copies like many filename_1.ext and the sync is done.
