Re: +Subsequent Delay when Playing

Rob, thanks for the information, I'm having the same problem but hadn't figured out the "+ subsequent" variation. Hadn't even noticed smaller list making a difference. Running win XP on Acer Veriton M410 (older computer) with 4BG RAM, MM 4.0.7.1511, have optimized DB recently and just rein...

sub-genres "below" Jazz, so everything tolls up to the master genre Jazz. Iver Here's how I do it with my rock music. I use multiple genres, pulled from allmusic.com styles. My choice of most appropriate "sub-genre" goes first, followed by any others, with rock at the end. - All...

Re: Food For Thought. - Politics

Before I jump in, let me tie this in to MM (something that we can all agree on) by stating that for composing this evening's diatribe I've chose a playlist of Southern rock, categorized as "Rock; Southern Rock; Whatever else applies". Wow! this is FUN! I do apologize for the confusing natu...

Re: Food For Thought. - Politics

ha hhaa aah aah  that took awhile to type up there meatlump. :D Yeah, but it was fun. It is hard finding good people to vote for. Is it even possible for people to remain good while advancing through our political system to the point where they can run for office? (above local, entry-level pos...

Re: Food For Thought. - Politics

I normally pass over anything about politics unless I'm on a political site; they're usually just people yelling at each other. However, seeing it was from rovingcowboy I figured I'd take a gander. Then I see that overused, false analogy about the shit in the basement. The basement is a place where ...

The custom fields are text fields that contain their own data, not pointers to other fields. If you created new fields in the ID3 tag (or even added other tags) MM will not read/display/write those fields. What you're getting is the actual data that you put in that custom tag "%style%" . I...

I find this a very interesting idea. I've often wished I had such a system for comparing/rating photos or graphic images. It does take a long time, but helps get around the problem of rating consistency. Without such a system I find it difficult to decide whether to give 3.5 stars or 4. I also may r...

I think the name is fantastic. In the U.K. there is a very well known expression: 'Cheeky Monkey' which is used when somebody is getting too close to the edge with suggestive words. It is so different and better than all the corporate junk names that probably cost a zillion Euros to pay a team of y...

Tracks that have no track number, what to do?

I've got some tracks that aren't from an album (CD) and so have no track number. These include sound clips from TV or movies and comedic bits recorded from radio shows. Leaving track number blank (0) causes these tracks to be listed under "files to edit", setting them to "1" may ...

Maybe I misinterpreted the question.

I would be in favor of a standard way for MM folks to chat with each other, but against including such within the software. I loathe bloated software and think that programs should stick to their core to maintain speed and minimize bugs.

One of the reasons I settled on Media Monkey was the logo. It's fun and friendly looking. Helpful branding for software in such a complex role as music manager and tagger.

Every purchaser must make up his/her own mind if the purchase was worthwhile. For me, it was a no-brainer. I'd been looking at tagging programs for months and found MM with full featured tagging advanced automatic playlists A cute, reassuring logo (almost as good as "Don't Panic" on the co...

meatlump: One day my wife made mealoaf for dinner, but it spread out in the pan and wasn't much of a loaf shape, so I called it meatlump. It still tasted great though, so I wasn't in too much trouble. Years later I needed a username for something, and realized meatlump was 8 characters and not likel...

Using MS Access is a good idea. Are you using MM 2.5 and do you have Access? More importantly, is it the same characters in each field, or do they vary? (back to providing examples).
