Re: A (best?) way to catalog non-ripped physical CDs?

When I was trying to determine if I should use Virtual CD, one thing that turned me away from that method was some concern regarding the ability to rename CD titles at a later time. As I understood you had to get it right the first time.

Re: A (best?) way to catalog non-ripped physical CDs?

It does create duplicates, but that is good since you do have a duplicate, one on CD, one on HDD. I don't understand why it is good. One could do that, but I don't get what makes it "good" or necessary. I prefer Lowlander's info. If I'm going to have a duplicate, I'd rather it be a mere ghost repre...

Re: A (best?) way to catalog non-ripped physical CDs?

Method 3: Use "Add/Rescan" and select the CD-ROM drive, and then rip the subset I want to have on the hard drive. * This does work, though of course it creates duplicates Based on prior advice of this forum, this is what I do. It does create duplicates, but that is good since you do have a duplicat...

Re: Multiple Artist Opernads

What I do is this: For Album Artist I use the album artist, usually one person or band name - unless in the case of some albums where there are two or more Album Artists. For them I list them both in the Album Artist filed separated by semi colon. For Artists field I list everyone who was involved i...

Re: Backup Database file

Yes, it contains the files metadata ( most of which should be in the files too), Playlists, Play History and Podcasts subscriptions. Thanks. Yes I know that most meta data is in the file as well. However I have recently added hundreds of CD's to the library, but not ripped the data, so there is no ...

Is MM.DB the only file that matters for meta data? I've been backing that one up regularly, but nothing else (I don't care about loosing MM settings, playlists, etc.)

Internal hotlink of artist names and other tag fields

I would love the ability to click on any artists name in a tag and a tab is opened with a list of all tracks that have that artist tagged.

Similar could be done for track names, genre, etc.

Thank you Peke for relaying your experience. Sounds like I don't need to concern myself with Virtual CD upfront.

Re: Cataloging CDs - any experience?

I'd like a bit more guidance to ensure i do this right. I have 350 albums (3900 tracks) ripped to HD and 20x that in number of physical CDs. I'll never rip them all, but like the idea of (over time) adding physical CDs to MM library. Some I'll rip immediately, some later, some never. As a trial I ca...

Thank you. That is good too know, I would certainly upgrade to gold if I do this.

Cataloging CDs - any experience?

Any cons to using MM to catalog a huge CD collection, a collection with many times the number of titles that are or will ever be ripped to local? Will the listings of many more titles than are actually on local HD make navigating music to play tedious? I noted titles for unavailable CDs are greyed o...

Re: Details Mode-How to get column 'Artwork'

Yes and no. I don't want ARTWORK. I simply want a Yes/No field. Also I notice that in that thread you already pooh poohed the idea. I like this idea, but would prefer the listing to be: embedded, in file folder or none (or whatever naming convention makes sense, perhaps: in tag, referenced or none)

Re: A way to hide Interprets in library?

Not sure what an interpret is - do you means the artist who performs the song? If so... for compilations like this I have the Album Artist as 'Various' and the Artist as the person/group how performs the song on the compilation. If I didn't want to hear songs from a compilation I could exclude any s...

Re: Track volume normalization is DRIVING ME NUTS!

From where did those mp3s added to Library originate?

If you don't have leveling on playback set it doesn't matter if there are leveling values set when you play songs from MM.

Re: Track volume normalization is DRIVING ME NUTS!

Options > Volume leveling Thanks, nohitter151. However, that panel in my options has "Level Playback / Sync volume" set to "per Track" (the only other option there appears to be "per Album" with no option to actually disable), and absolutely nothing checked/enabled. Am I actually supposed to have s...
