CD drive names in media tree - Ghost entries [#16708]

Post by calonzo »

I have the latest build: 4.1.28.1905

First I inserted the CD Indigo Girls "Shaming of the Sun".
I was playing music directly from the CD.
Then I ripped the entire CD at the same time.
The CD ejected after the rip was done (even though it was also still playing music at the same time, which is a separate issue)
I inserted the CD Indigo Girls "Become You" and started playing that CD.
It didn't start at Track #1. I think it started at the same track # where it left of from the previous CD.
I also noticed that the old track name was still there, too, along with the current song of the same track #.

A similar thing happened when I inserted an audio CD while the "My Computer\F:\" CD drive was highlighted. First it showed "Unknown Artist". I have the Discogs Tagger script installed. It found the disc information, but instead of replacing the "Unknown Artist" tracks with the actual information, it duplicated all of the tracks. One set with "Unknown Artist", and one set with the actual artist.

I can upload an image of each, but I don't know how. I don't see an upload button.

1) The Now Playing still shows the old track list? Or where is this happening? How did you start playing the second CD?

2) Did it duplicate in the My Computer node for the drive? After tagging? Does using F5 resolve this?

Sorry, I didn't get notification of your reply.

Is there a way to upload images? It would be easier to show you that way.

I couldn't reproduce the issue of playing and ripping a CD at the same time.

The only way I can reproduce it is to highlight the F: drive under My Computer BEFORE inserting the CD. After inserting the CD (which is not in my library), it will show "Unknown" for each track. If it is a CD which has multiple listings in the Discogs DB, I will get a popup and have to select one. But in this case, there must have only been 1 listing, and it automatically populated the names. But instead of removing the "Unknown" tracks, it added the track names to the displayed list. If I choose Play Now, it will populate the Now Playing list with both sets of tracks.

If I hit F5 it will clear the list of tracks in the F: drive and show only the correct names. Choosing Play Now will also reset the Now Playing list with just the correct names.

In the image below, I clicked on the F: drive, inserted the C.W. Macall CD, then I ejected it, and inserted the Alanis Morissette CD. You can still see both sets of tracks. F5 will fix it.

Hi,
I am not being able to replicate your exact issue in MMW but have found few inconstancy and tweaks that should be fixed for MM5.

I created https://www.ventismedia.com/mantis/view.php?id=16708

I had to install DbgView for another issue, so I took a debug log for this issue, in case you wanted to look further.

This time I was able to to see duplicate tracks even after inserting the first CD which never happened before. The first screenshot shows that, and the second screenshot shows after the second CD is inserted.
