Gap before starting playback [#18539]

Post by harpoharpsichord »

Before starting playback, MM5 makes a 2 seconds gap. How can I remove this gap?
Thanks for helping, Richard

Hi,
Can you please be more specific, on new play or when it transition to next song?

Also Make sure you use latest version from viewtopic.php?f=30&t=86639&sd=d

Thanks for answering. With the newest beta the problem seems to be solved. The gap before a track is minimal. I will try it with tracks which contain continuous music, e.g. from an opera. When no success I come back.
Thanks again!

The problem is back today, don't know why. It goes like this:
1. One track is finished
2. The next track is highlighted in the list
3. The slider disappears
4. The button changes from Pause to Play
5. MM5 waits several seconds
6. Playback starts
This happens every time between tracks. With MM4 this worked fine.
How can it be solved?

Which Build (Help > About), which Output Plugin (Tools > Options > Audio Output (plug-ins)) are you using and are you playing on the internal player or to a DLNA/Chromecast client?

Are the files you're playing stored on an internal drive, or on an external or networked drive?

Thanks for helping.
My build is 5.0.2.2516
My output device is MM DirectSound
The tracks are streamed from an USB Harddrive.

Does it still happen if you play the files from an internal drive (copy a few from the USB drive to test)?

Happens the same. Using MM4 with the same configuration works fine.
The gap does not have the same length every time. Maybe depends on the length of the file or the resolution of the file.
Now I cannot play an opera with continuos music which comes in seperate tracks.

I have the debug version running, are there messages which can help identify the problem?

Yes, please generate debug log, as described here: viewtopic.php?f=30&t=86643
You can zip it and send me link to private messages here.

When playing short files (< 1 minute), there is no gap between the files.
The longer the files are, the longer are the gaps.

With 2519 the problem seems to be solved. No gaps.
