TV Tuner in MediaMonkey!

Post by ThymeCypher »

For those who wish to use TV Tuning capabilities in MediaMonkey, here's the trick:

1. Download Winamp TV:
http://www.tv-plugin.com/

2. Download VID4WA:
http://rc4wa.narod.ru/download.html

(Note that Winamp TV is also listed here, but does not allow adding of S-Video or Composite, and is underfeatured.)

Install them both. (For WinampTV, you will need to fake Winamp.exe. I just copied VisHelper and renamed it :])

Configure it just like any other plugin.

On the scan tab, make note of the location of the place where the channel files will be saved. Also, using Manual Add, add your S-Video and Composite inputs.

Go to that folder, and drag the files crated into Now Playing

Double click.

VID4WA should kick in and display the TV tuner! :O

Extra fun:
Since it can (or makes you use, didn't look into that, don't care) use overlays, set your wallpaper to R:0 G:16 B:0, maximize the window for your video, minimize it, BAM! TV wallpaper. Overlay will replace any 0,16,0 pixel on your display, so go nuts. :)

And to forewarn...

You'll have to find other means of audio through this (I use onboard sound with a link cable), as the Audio tab WILL cause MediaMonkey to lock up. Also, someone should sticky this.

Sorry for the multiple posts.
Just informing plugins work in the latest beta. Audio still locks it up however.
