Most PlugIns are for Winamp and need Winamp to be installed.
Create a file named WinAmp.exe in the MM-Directory (f.e.: File -> New -> TextFile -> name it "WinAmp.exe"). That should work!

Installing DFX plug-in

Post by Guest »

I found that the DFX plug-in wants you to point it to Winamp on your computer for it to install. I don't have/want Winamp so now what, right?
Easy. In Windows Explorer; Tools>Folder Options>View>Hide extensions for known file types(UNcheck this box... you wanna be able to see the actual extension for each file for now) Apply Ok.

Now go into your MM directory and create a folder called Winamp. Now create a text file in the Winamp folder, but change the name of the text file to WinAmp.exe. When the DFX install asks you to point to the Winamp folder, here it is. After DFX puts it's stuff in the Winamp folder you created, just copy/paste the stuff to your MM folder. I had to restart MM cuz it was running, but this method worked fine for me. Hope this helps !

BTW, thanks to onkel_enno, I just elaborated a bit on that suggestion.

DFX Plug in

Post by Rene »

I tried to install the plug in into MM. I did not work
I tried everything. The most common way to me
-altough it is not my pre set- is to use Winamp
as standard in stead of the MM player
using that option the Plug in works and
I have to say........... it works great with great
sound enhancement

DFX plug-in

Help!!!

Me too, I really tried everything to make that plug-in work for MM, but NOTHING works!! :( .. I've been able to install him the way Guest described, but the problem is that DFX doesn't want to start (like it automatically does in Winamp)!!! :( And it works so nice in Winamp...

Don't get it why the webmaster put that plug-in on the website (by "our favorite Audio Effects"), it ain't working at all..!!

Hopefully there is still somebody out there who can find a solution...!

My resolution was exactly what previous posters suggested. DFX wants to see winamp, so I gave it winamp... ie:

Create new textfile (eg. in directory c:\program files\mediamonkey)
Rename text file to winamp.exe
Install DFX and browse to this newly created file when asked.

The plugin thus installed without a problem, and now starts automatically everytime I open mediamonkey. If it doesn't, open:
Tools>Options>Player>DSP Plugins

Select DFX and click on configure. Make sure that "display dfx control screen when Winamp is started" is checked.

You need to copy the file "dsp_dfx.dll" and the folder "DFX" from the winamp plugins directory into the mediamonkey plugins directory.
