Does such(check MP3 audio on cracks/spaces/..) script exist?
Does such(check MP3 audio on cracks/spaces/..) script exist?
Hi,
Maybe I missed it, or didn't search the total script forum, but I was wondering the following thing:
I have a great > 800 CD's equivelent mp3's, most are ripped to MP3 from my own CD's and done by myself and I'm 99% sure these are all good. But also, I have taken over some mp3's of other people.
As I've copied these, but not yet listen to all these "foreign" mp3's,
I was wondering if a script exist for checking if there are 'cracks' / spaces (no music for ..seconds) or other 'shit' in the mp3 audio data stream.
So instead of listening to all these mp3's with my own ears to check for silences/cracks/...,
can a script do also this kind of checking?
I would say for instance, that a mp3 has 'audio data faults' when there are:
- 8seconds or more quit (-90db) passages
- 2 or more times in short notice 'hikups' (same part again and again and again,
because of read errors on the orginal CD when ripping to mp3)
- very high 'spikes', so music is normal and suddenly a very high dellta (+60db?) and short (<20ms?) noise occurs? (for instances, like putting on a old LP, then you can hear when you put the needle on the LP and when you took it of the LP...)
So instead of script on metadata, I'm thinking on a script on the actual audio mp3 data...
Thanks in advance for reading and giving feedback on this matter
D.

no such script
the only thing close that I am aware of, is foobar 2000's verify integrity utility.
It can identify tracks with invalid headers, bad crc's, and non-mpeg data.

New script:
Last.FM Node Now with DJ Mode!
Last.fm + MediaMonkey = Scrobbler DJ!
Tag with MusicBrainz ~ Get Album Art!
Tweak the Monkey! ~ My Scripts Page

MP3Utility can find tracks with Sync Errors (which often cause a click, pop, skip, etc when playing files).

Eyal.
I can't seem to find where mp3val puts the backup files.
Do you know where to find them?

In same folder as source mp3 files, with extension .BAK.Dreadlau wrote:Eyal.

Bak files are created when you click 'Repair all files with problems'.
Make sure to disable 'Delete Backup Files' in the preferences.

Ty Eyal.
I used the search in explorer to find all the .bak and was able to delete them in one go.

I'm not sure I would trust MP3Val. I grabbed it the other day and ran a quick search on some files and a lot of them were presenting an error about a Blade Header, and these files weren't even encoded with Blade. *Scratches Head*
Re: Does such(check MP3 audio on cracks/spaces/..) script exist?
They were encoded with what?
Don't forget Mp3val is still a Beta release.

I believe that "EncSpot" is what you are after. The website (www.guerillasoft.co.uk) seems to have closed shop, but you can still get it here (or just google for it!)
