adding album art freezes MM [#6133]

Greetings,

I got some problems with adding album art recently. Often MM freezes when I want to add Album Art.
Steps:
-Album Art View + Details
-Right Click the (empty) Album Art
-Add Image
-Select File
-Checked are "Save Image to tag (if possible)" and "Aplly to all tracks on the album"

Very often MM freezes, and then the only thing I can do is closing it and restart. Sometimes if I wait long enough I also get 6 Error messages. Ow, and the current song keeps playing till it's finished and the last few seconds are repeated over and over again.

It looks a bit random cause sometimes when I try to add art for the second time on the same songs it works correct. Adding Album Art via properties never freezes MM. This problem occured with versions 1256, 1267 and 1271 and started out of nothing (I think) and not after I installed a new version.

Other info: Vista, Quadcore, use only 1 core for each 4 task (like ripping), priority for background task is "Lower"

Can someone help me please!!!

happens to me all the time with debug builds, if you select don't send (alt-D) for the messages, eventually it should return.

I would guess this happens most with large library databases (mine is ~760 megs).

My library is about 14.000 (119GB) songs, not that big for MM isn't it?

I will send a debug log as soon as the problems shows up again. I can't reproduce it myself now that I "want" it.

Also happens with my player, on all versions I've tried (debug, non-debug)

Only on albums that have 3 or less songs though, anything higher and it will have no problems.

So although it is more inconvenient, I add album art through right clicking the album and adding album art through the tags.

Tested it with 3.1.2.1275 (Beta 3) Non-Debug and I still have the problem

I can't replicate.

For a set of tracks that trigger the bug, does the bug occur consistently (I'm wondering if perhaps it's related to the characteristics of the album art being tagged for those specific tracks)?

The annoying thing is, that there is no consistency at all, e.g. after restarting MM I managed to add the Album Art to the same tracks where it previously was frozen.

I just had a possibly related problem with 1276.

Editing album art on an album which accidentally had a 4MB folder.jpg.

Apply to album was checked.

Noticed after the edit that the track tagger task appeared to be frozen and MM had gone CPU bound.

Looks like some automatic conversion occurring which is very expensive and possibly redundant. i.e. Once per track instead of once per image.

I had to kill MM to get back to normal operations.

I'm happy it works fine for Projectfallback now, but using the latest 1276 Non-Debug build, my MM was frozen after adding album art to about 20 albums

I simply can't reproduce this. Not with large jpgs or small ones.

For an album that fails, if you delete the Art, and then retag, will it fail again? i.e. is it specific to the Album Art that's being tagged (like Owyn implied)? If so, can you send me one such file?
