I said that it was rushed!

* Manual sync of tracks should bounce for pre-existing tracks i.e. UploadTrack checks for track version before uploading.
* Handle ratings stars according to lookup tables to make 96 to 100 = 5 stars
* Duplicate track indices which are discovered in scanning are deleted

* Rating of MM=79 not overwritten with it=80

Re: MediaMonkey iTunes device plugin (d_itunes.dll)
MediaMonkey can not be initialized
MediaMonkey 3.2.0.1294
iTunes 9,1,0,79
d_iTunes.dll Uploaded 03/03/2010
iTunes installed in correct directory under Program Files.
After installation of this plugin in plugin folder of MediaMonkey and firing up MM, I get an error MM can not be initialized. Say OK and MM opens up. I try to find portable device and another error. MM freezes and have to quit using task manager.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks

Re: MediaMonkey iTunes device plugin (d_itunes.dll)
I have now been using the plugin for a while, and it's excellent, thanks!
If I may, there are a few things:
1) Would it be possible to have albums that are configured as audiobooks in MediaMonkey, come through into iTunes as Audio Books, rather than as Music? That is the only aspect of the native iPhone plugin that I prefer (although there are so many more that I don't).
2) One drawback of the iPhone plugin that seems to be replicated in the iTunes plugin is that updating Album Art does not appear to lead to the track being updated in iTunes. Sometimes I use the option to get the Album Art from the web, and sometimes I use the batch art finder, but either way if the track is already in iTunes I have to update it in some other way in order to get the album art refreshed.
3) I have tried the option of getting the plugin to sync my iPod before and after the iTunes sync, and nothing seems to happen. I was wondering if the fact that the name of my iPod has an apostrophe in it would make a difference ("Julian's iPod") or whether I was just doing something completely wrong?
Thanks for all the hard work!
Jules

@ Guest:
Do you have MiniLyrics or any other autostarting program installed? It didn't work for me either till I uninstalled ML.

@ treponem,
No I have nothing of such sort installed.
Do you get same errors?

Not any more. In my case it was ML.
Re: MediaMonkey iTunes device plugin (d_itunes.dll)
Hey,
that is exactly what I was searching...unfortunately it doesn`t work for me. When I put the .dll in the Plugins-Folder, everything works fine, iTunes starts with MM, and I can see the portable device iTunes in MM. I have configured it just like in the manual in the first post, but when I try to access the device iTunes there is an "access violation at adress 087A0C73" error. Syncing doesn't work, either, it just happens nothing. When I try to send a playlist to iTunes via right click and "Send to", sometimes parts of the playlists are synced in iTunes, but at differing points it just stops. Don't know what to do
Ah, I'm using a german Windows 7 Home Premium, I have UAC disabled and I deleted my old iTunes database and started a new one.
Hope you can help me, I will provide any information I can

1) I'm not sure what audiobooks really are ... I'll have to look into this one. Can you send me some links to get me started?
2) I'm aware of this one (there's a block of commented-out code to do this at present). The problem is that there is a lack of functions in MM and iTunes to extract and insert images. 1. When the track is first imported into iTunes then the image(s) are done automatically yet there are no individual functions to do this retrospectively. 2. is the inability to detect that an image has changed (there is not date recorded for the image update).
3) Triggering of the iPod should happen very easily (I use it all the time). Mine is "Mark's iPhone" so that's no problem. Switch on the debug values to 2 and have look at the output. Here is the corresponding code ...
Code: Select all
procedure iTunesUpdateIpod(
Configdevicesourcename:widestring;
ConfigiPodSyncEnum:Integer);
var
s: IITSource;
iPod:IITIPodSource;
update:boolean;
begin
s:=getItunesSource(getApp(),configdeviceSourceName);
if s<>nil then
begin
if s.Kind=ITSourceKindIPod then
begin
ipod:=s as IITIPodSource;
log.text(1, 'iPod Sync', ConfigiPodSyncEnum);
case ConfigiPodSyncEnum of
1:
update := (MessageBoxYesNo('Sync '+ipod.Name+' now?')=mrYes);
2:
update:=true;
else
update:=false;
end;
if update then
begin
log.text(0,'iTunesUpdateIpod',ConfigdeviceSourceName);
ipod.UpdateIPod;
end;
end;
end;
end;

Switch on debug mode and take a look at the output.

Re: MediaMonkey iTunes device plugin (d_itunes.dll)
I have no iTunes-Folder at HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\MediaMonkey\Device. Just a "iRiver" and a "d_USBMass"-folder. Perhaps that's part of the problem?

Do you run MM as admin? If not try it.
Re: MediaMonkey iTunes device plugin (d_itunes.dll)
Hi. I was using an older version of the plugin (1/29/2010) and just updated to the most recent one and noticed some new behavior and I'm not sure if it's intended or not. The first time a file is synced between MM annd iTunes, it's modified date stamp is changed to the current date/time. Once the song is in iTunes, the date doesn't change on subsequent syncs, seems like just the first time. I've turned off any options I thought could be affecting the modified date (e.g. conversion, copy art to track tags), but it still changes the date. Since I use the modified date for a lot of the sorting I do, it's a little frustrating. Is the date changing normal?
Thanks for looking at my post and thanks for a great plugin.

Re: MediaMonkey iTunes device plugin (d_itunes.dll)
@Zeeno
I actually don't update the modication date, ever. iTunes will set it when the file is first added into iTunes. I detect change of ID3 tags and update them but never set the date programmatically.
I suspect what you're seeing is a bugfix: at one time a change of tag values forced a re-add of the track (which was relatively slow, especially if resampling to a lower bit rate) and this was corrected to update just the tag information. The re-add would have caused an update in date whereas the tag change probably doesn't.
The internal MM database has options to update the file date (or not) upon tag changes. Perhaps I should introduce something similar? I imagine not all users will want the same. How about the following options ....

- Leave dates alone
- Date follows track's date in MM
- Date updates as tags are updated
- Date added to iTunes
- Modification date
