1398: Lag when moving MM window

Post by Pman »

I quite often move the MM window around quite often and this lag is very much annoying. Tested on Wind7, Vista including with/without Monkeyflow, with/without minilyrics+embedder. Steps to reproduce:

1. Open MM in window mode
2. Hold Caption/titelbar bar and move MM window around
3. Notice the lag

I have attached a youtube video to show the lag, it's not as bad as the video shows, but it's very noticeable. Also moving other windows say firefox or anything else, this lag doesn't exist.

I cannot reproduce here either and I usually have 3 or more processes running at once, the only time I see any lag is when another program has control doing something.

I don't think it's anything to do with my system because ive tried it on two seperate computers with Vista and Windows 7 and both have the same issue. Also I changed around the priority of other programs to see if that makes a difference and it didnt. I have a decent computer so the lag shouldn't be down to my processor or ram and nothing related to whether i have 2 or more programs running at one time. But who knows, maybe it's Windows related.

It's not much of a big deal as such, just when im snapping (in W7) from left to right or max to unmax I see the lag. But if anyone can replicate then that would be great.

I don't have as much lag as in your video.

But something is sure,
Moving Mediamonkey' window is way more laggy than moving Google Chrome' window on my computer.

Same with Firefox, also maximising and unmaximsing MM window there's lags with MM trying to readjust and align all the panels.

In fact that reminds with of another problem I forgot to post, going to Tools->Properties, if you move down the list (on left) with the arrow keys on the old keyboard, there's a huge lag between some of the list (e.g. moving from Visualisation plugins to Downloads/Podcasts).
I get some small squares appearing when changing like below:

I think these little lags maybe all related somehow.

Well you know, since Chrome came about, everything else just looks slow, even Firefox!

Im guessing RDP, it's fairly newly installed so not really changed anything including ui, it's all Windows 7 (Ultimate) standard stuff. Happens also on my other computer with Vista (Home prem).

Just to note, i think the window moving thing seems to be fixed. Went from 1398 to 1400 and no lag when moving the MM window quickly.
