Skin installation

Post by sonicendeavor »

Hi all,
I'd like to try other skins with MM, but after reading the instructions in MM help, I'm unclear as to how to install additional skins.
- I went to Tools/Options/Appearance/Skin and clicked on "Download more skins...".
- I then clicked on Download for the "Brushed Steel" skin, and downloaded the .zip file.
- This is where I'm stuck. The MM Help says to put it in the Program Files/Media Monkey/Skins folder, but I'm expecting (probably incorrectly)to see a .wsz file in the zip file, and there isn't one - just a bunch of .bmp's and a theme.mskn file.
If anyone can point me to documentation that shows to how to proceed once the .zip file is downloaded, I'd appreciate it.
Thanks,
Bill

Hello.

That .zip file is a .wsz file, the only difference is that it has another extension. So you can rename the zip file to .wsz

Then put that file in Program Files/Media Monkey/Skins and (re)start MediaMonkey. Then, you can select the newly added skin from the skin options.

Cheers

that brushed steel skin has some troubles or did have.

go to the skins forum and get the list of sites to get more skins from

trixmoto has made a brushed monkey skin to replace that brushed steel one.

and the cowboy has made several skins nothing to do with cowboys? he uses jungles and monkeys? strange combo that is? but he has some toaster skins for his skins also.

you can also get skins from peke and a few others in the mm skins list there.

enjoy them just remember cowboy does not do monotone skins.

install problem Brushed Steel skin

Thank heaven for a search function. Otherwise I would have had to ask the same question.
Is it possible to put a link to this thread in the Download section for that skin? It would save a lot of wasted time and/or disappointment. (Or just change the extension on the download file?)
