I'm a brand new MediaMonkey user and need a little help. I have 2 computers in my home network that I wish to use to play music. I have a desktop running XP and a laptop running Windows 7. I have installed MediaMonkey on both computers.
Here's what I want to do. I want to keep all my media on the desktop and access it from both computers. Since I'm the only user on both computers, I want to be able to rate and edit tags from either computer. I read through posts and the knowledge base and did the following:
Set up a shared folder on my desktop (the server)
Moved mm.db to this folder
Added the line in the mediamonkey.ini file to point to the database in the format \\Desktop\Path\mm.db
On the laptop, I then edited the mediamonkey.ini file also to point to this same location.
The problem:
Music plays fine on both computers. However, when I edit a tag/file on either computer, the database duplicates that file. I always have kept the navigation on "music". When the database duplicates, it shows one instance of the songs at the network location (\\Desktop\Path\etc) and another instance of the file at the physical location of the shared folder on the desktop(Drive\Documents and Settings\etc.).
It adds a HD:<hard drive name> and a My Documents to the location. If I click on this, I only see one instance of the file. If I only select the Network then I only see one instance, but when I go back up to Music, I get two instances.
I can remove the HD and My Documents from the Location and the duplicate disappears. However, whenever I edit a file again, the whole thing comes back.
Any suggestions? Please forgive my ignorance as I'm new to this program and networking. Thanks in advance for your help.

Re: Networking Problem
What node in the Media Tree is selected when you rate a file? Is Tools > Options > Auto-Organize enabled (and set incorrectly to local path)? Is Folder Monitoring enabled under File > Add/Rescan Files (and set incorrectly to local path)?

Re: Networking Problem
It was the File Monitor. It was set to the physical folder instead of the network location. Or, at least, that seems to have fixed it. I've edited a few tags and so far, no dupes.
