missing and incomplete playlists [#10850]

Post by JeffV64 »

I am having a problem that may or not be related to this: http://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewto ... 21&t=71668

I am using MMA 1.0.4.0133, Droid X2 gingerbread in conjunction with the latest build of MMW. Last night I synched (USB) three new playlists to the phone's external card. Even though I can verify that the playlists are physically present, and that the new associated music files are also present and playable, MMA does not report their existence. I have tried re-booting (multiple times) and forcing a media scan to no avail.

And, my three previously existing playlists are incomplete. They are showing as having 255, 254, and 293 tracks, when they should have 500-600 each. This is new behavior with 0133, though I have seen it with other media players.

Just as an update, I tried a fresh install but am still seeing three playlists, with exactly the count of files as before. Also tried removing the battery as for some apps this triggers scans that can fix these kinds of issues, but no joy.

Did you remove the Playlists from the device or the MediaMonkey folders (both on internal and external card) when you did a fresh install? The latter will create a new device profile in MMW though.

I did the following:

1. Uninstall MMA
2. Remove the files in the "files" subfolders, both on the external card and on the internal card (believe these are storageinfo and a database file).
3. Reboot
4. Reinstall MMA

I also tried using MMW to remove all playlists, then added two test playlists with 10 tracks each. After a lengthy rescan (something like 35 minutes), I am unable to see the test playlists, but still see entries for the playlists I removed (MMA correctly identifies these as empty). Of course I can verify that the test playlists are on the device, and the old playlists are not. Navigating to Artists, Albums, and Tracks, things are fine, but navigating to genres gives me a grey screen (like if I click on audiobooks - I don't have any - I've probably never done that before so it is unclear to me if this is new behavior or not).

Playlists are also synced to the device itself (see Device Profile in MMW as to where) and only if this is enabled. You may want to remove all Playlists from device and try syncing again.

Yep, that's what I did, and it worked! At least, the ghost playlists are gone (because I removed them) and after a sync the new playlists showed up. I can't really figure out why that happened, so I may follow up on that. But glad to have things looking normal. Thanks for the help Lowlander.
