How To Merge Tracks In One Album

Post by Monkey C Monkey Do »

Hi,

Downloaded MM a few days ago and so far so good. :)

Now I have several tracks from the same album but I have two albums with the same artist/album name showing up in MM. So how do I merge these same two albums in one?.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Make sure the Album Artist as well as the Album values are the same for all tracks on the Album.

So, you have what should be one album with several tracks showing as two albums,
even though they have the same artist and album name?

If the album name is the same they should show as one album regardless of what else is different.
Other fields might be off and need to be merged, but it's still the same album.

Do any of the other fields appear mismatched?

That's incorrect. Album Artist also has to be the same for all tracks on the Album (Artist can be any value though).

Yes, FL. That is correct.

I misread your post to mean matching "between" the two (Art/Alb Art).
You meant, matching "within" each of the two fields.

Result: the album is still the same but not all tracks show together.

So this screenshot makes it quite clear.

Please provide a simple and non technical answer. What are album values?.

Thanks so much

PS This was sooo easy to do in WMP. One just dragged one of the albums into the other.....et voila. Job done!.
Edit: I see now that the artists names are not the same in the individual tracks  . So I went into properties and changed them all to one name and Done.

You didn't provide information on which column we're viewing.

Have you tried sorting on Artwork, Summary or Album?

What do you mean by "what are album values".

The album is "Simple Things". Do you see this as all the same under album column?

Do you guys actually read !.

As I indicated in my former post, by changing all the artists names into one name, the two albums merged automatically into one.

As seen here:

So this issue I solved myself.

Got it now. You are referring to the "Edit:" statement in earlier post.
Saying you did that and it's "Done" isn't clear that by done the issues is solved. It just sounds like you did that one thing.
You could have edited that into the space before the album values question (It's fine that you asked that, but it's still not clear why
or with what comes after if you figured it out)?

I mean, yeah, I get what you are saying now, but it really wasn't all that clear that everything is kosher.

Our responses were nice and non-technical. There are really good, nice people on here who read quite well.

I believe that is mostly due to Lowlander!

You didn't need to change the Artist value, I wrote you need to change the Album Artist value.

I do not want to get in a slanging match here. But I asked in my first post what are album values!. So I didn't know it was just a fancy name for "names". So the answer lowlander gave was no good to me!. Then I posted the screenshot and I noticed that the album artists had different names. So I changed that and it was solved by me. Only today I figured that what values mean in this respect.

You guys have to keep in mind that not everyone lives in an English speaking country!!!!

That is why I also said keep it simple and non-technical.

Thank you.

All I know is there was absolutely no reason whatsoever to make a comment like that about the reading.
There was nothing in your posts that indicated you are not an English speaker.

Whether you speak good English or not, someone will either understand you or they won't.
You can't say "oh, I don't speak good English" and then automatically because we undestand that now we are going to
understand what you are saying. Besides, we are well aware of Non-English speakers. Have you seen some of the forum sections.

Also, you didn't ask about album values in the first post, you asked it later.
Second, originally you said that you changed the artist values to same and are done.
Ok, so you made a mistake and meant artist album name, but we have no way of knowing so
we have to ask what you mean.

You are asking us to be non-technical (and we were), because being too technical can be confusing. But if people on the other side of it are confusing by saying the wrong terms (even if accidentally) or saying things like "I said this or that" and they didn't or said it in a post they didn't, things like that are confusing to us as well.

In all that we said we never said anything snarky to you like the reading comment.
We just TRULY-HONESTLY didn't understand you and there is no shame in that on either side.

An advisory example: When Lowlander mentioned that he said artist album name not album name,
Just come back and say something like "oh, I meant artist album name". When I asked about the artist value question,
you could have just said something like "oh, I see, it's just the name of the album". Be patient with us as well, sometimes it takes a little longer than you might want.

Keep your responses simple and don't be embarrassed or overridden with pride about making a mistake or not understanding something we say.
We don't always understand either. And as good as we are at English, there are plenty of us making plenty mistakes.
We are not here to bully you or be overly technical!
