Synchronizing my folder structure to a smartphone

Synchronizing my folder structure to a smartphone
I have a special folder structure on my computer which has nothing to do with "artist" "song name" or something like that and I want to synchronize my whole music to my smartphone. If I do that I get a completely different folder structure on my smartphone. I already had a look at the options in the sync mask and deleted the tags. I just kept the first directory "music" but this did not really changed the problem.
If the folder structure is different on my smartphone than the playlists do not work.
What can I do to get the same folder structure on my smartphone as on my computer.
Thanks Joe

You have <Path>, <Folder> and <Filename> available as Masks: http://www.mediamonkey.com/wiki/index.p ... ormats/4.0

Thank you very much, this worked fine. I did not find the keyword <Path> in the list and entered it now by hand.

Re: Synchronizing my folder structure to a smartphone
I was too fast with me last answer, it is not perfect.
The music on my computer is inside D:\Musik\... and should be on my smartphone on the Card inside "Music".
On the smartphone now some music folders are inside "Music" and some others inside "Musik".
In Mediamonkey in the options for synchronizing I used "Music\Path:1".
What is wrong and what should I use?
The next problem are my playlists. I find them all listed on my smartphone but they are empty and I don't know why. Does someone have any idea?

Please take read at http://www.mediamonkey.com/wiki/index.p ... ormats/4.0 and see how to best setup <Folders:?> to eliminate first folder and make it work like you want.
Where do you sync playlists and if you physically open them in notepad from device do you see files?

Re: Synchronizing my folder structure to a smartphone
I had a look at this description several times but I don't get it work. Perhaps I am too stupid...
No, the folder "Playlists" is empty.
I will try it again...

Re: Synchronizing my folder structure to a smartphone
I now tried the setting: \Music\<Path:1>
The result is that all files of my subfolders are directly inside the folder "Music". The file names are changed to "Path???.mp3", while ??? are numbers like "1_4".
I no longer understand that.

Re: Synchronizing my folder structure to a smartphone
I don't use <Path> in sync, but you could try it in Tools > Auto-Organize Files as it shows the results of the Mask (don't apply it though). It seems that <Path:1> does include folder structure and filename here, maybe there is a bug in sync where it doesn't (<Filename> could help work around this).

The preview was Ok. I try it again just with <Path> but entered in the field for the file name. I will see...
Re: Synchronizing my folder structure to a smartphone
So now I have the files completely as I wanted to have it. The keyword <path> or <path:1> is not working correctly but with <folder> and <filename> I succeeded.
Keeps the playlist problem. The folder for the playlists is not empty, the playlists exist. But if I look in mediamonkey on my smartphone the playlists are shown but empty.

Re: Synchronizing my folder structure to a smartphone
The empty playlist problem in MMA has been fixed recently and is not yet in the official release (1.2)
Could you try to click "Be a beta tester" and this way upgrade to MMA 1.3 beta to see whether the issue is resolved for you?

Re: Synchronizing my folder structure to a smartphone
Sorry that I answer that late. I now have the beta version and made a new synchronisation but the playlists are still empty.
At the lower end of the empty list I get the message to select a library folder. If I remember correctly I never choosed a folder for the playlists and I don't know where the playlists are saved by the synchronisation.

Re: Synchronizing my folder structure to a smartphone
I still have the problem that the playlists are empty. Does someone have an idea what I can try to solve it?
Re: Synchronizing my folder structure to a smartphone
Make sure you update to MMA 1.1.3 and MMW 4.1.15. Then you probably have to resync.
