How do I u se the search function of mediamonkey on an ipod?

I am trying to use the search function of the mediamonkey to find songs or artists on the ipod but it would only search in the library. But I can't add the mp3s of the ipod to the library

But if i delete a song from the library will it be updated on the database of the ipod or will it only be deleted on the hard drive of the ipod?
