EphPod is the best-in-class freeware for syncing a library collection to an Apple iPod. It can sync folders, specific songs or playlists.
I would love for Songs-DB to either interface directly with EphPod or to at least create an association to the .m3u playlists on the hardrive synchronized automatically with the playlists that are part of the Songs-DB .mdb file.
I realize that this can be done manually by exporting the playlist, but as frequently as I modify my playlists for syncronization to the iPod, having this done automatically (as an option) would be a tremendous timesaver.
The EphPod team has already partnered with MoodLogic and MusicMatch Jukebox comes with the iPods, so adding this functionality would help Songs-DB better compete with those two packages. On every other front, Songs-DB seems to be leaps and bounds ahead of the competition.

P.S. I also think this approach would be more immediate and cost effective than if you were to try to program a direct interface to iPods on your own. You could best leverage the tools that are already out there.

Still on the wishlist...
I was thinking that a whole portable player management suite might be a nice idea. In this case you would be able to send songs from within MM to a player and MM would also convert the songs to a better suited portable format. I'm thinking on a lower bitrate and probably mp3 format (or whatever suits the specific player). This way you could have MM for your PC songs (good quality, high bitrates other file formats) and use MM to create/send songs to portable players in their best formats.
It could be an option to have MM save these songs in a seperate folder on the HDD or just do this on the fly.
