Many programs these days have built-in features for downloading and installing updates in-app, without having to open a web browser and downloading the installer manually. (For an example of a program that does this well, look at VLC or ShareX)
It would be very nice if MediaMonkey had that feature, too. It could even be a Gold feature; I'm sure a lot of people would like it for the convenience.

I uploaded many addons to MM's addon page, but not all of those were created by me. "By drakinite, Submitted by drakinite" means I made it on my own time. "By Ventis Media, Inc., Submitted by drakinite" means it may have been made by me or another MediaMonkey developer, so instead of crediting/thanking me, please thank the team. You can still ask me for support on any of our addons.
Re: Feature request: Built-in updater
I agree 100% with this request. This is a complete rewrite, and this kind of automated and frictionless install and upgrade procedure is a standard expectation in 2020 ... especially so in a paid app.
Want a dark skin for MM5? This is the one that works best for me .. elegant, compact & clear.
Re: Feature request: Built-in updater
Plus, I don't think it would take too much time/effort to implement? Theoretically, all it needs to do is fetch the latest installer, place it into a temp folder, and run the installer. (With a few security checks to make sure the correct installer is being downloaded, of course.)

Re: Feature request: Built-in updater
Yes, this is planned feature to be implemented.
Re: Feature request: Built-in updater
Hi,
One of the issues is almost all AV apps have some sort of AI guess on frequently updated files and flag them as potential risk to "prevent" infections and 0day attacks (in most cases it is false positive), but makes publishing quick patches in between released bit cumbersome and complex
But as Ludek said it is planned feature.

Re: Feature request: Built-in updater
Oh that's wonderful! I didn't notice these replies until now.
I'm glad to hear that you're planning on doing a built in (or automatic) updater, cuz that'll be super convenient.
