Is It Possible to import iTunes Playlists with Different Folder Structure? [#18252]

Post by richiefinger »

Is there any way to import iTunes playlists with different folder structures?
I'm exporting from iTunes as m3u8.
The Playlist is being picked up on the rescan but is empty.
I'm assuming it's because they have different folder structures?

Playlists have Paths to files on them. These Paths need to be valid for MediaMonkey to be able to import the files on the Playlists. You can use any Text Editor (like Notepad) to edit the Paths.

OK that's not going to work as the filenames and folder structures are all different from folder to folder.
It will be quicker for me to recreate the playlists manually in MM5.

Is there some method for creating a "holding place" for a track in a playlist even though I don't have that track in the library, so I can add it later but keep the playlist correct.
I'm guessing I can edit the playlist using notepad but that wont show in MM. Is there any way to show it in MM??

No, Playlists are database based and link to files in the database.

So yes, if you were to edit the database SQLite directly and create the file entries and then link the Playlist to it.

OK I'll just have to create dummy tracks with 1 second of space and copy and rename each one for the missing track.

I'm getting strange actions whilst trying to edit a playlist.
I've dragged all of one Conductor into a new playlist. The conductor name is the name of the playlist, the tracks are not in the correct order for the playlist.
I'm trying to drag and drop each track into the correct position.
This works for a few tracks but then keeps reverting to the original track order when I dragged the tracks from conductor.
The sort by # arrow now disappears
However when I press sort by # , the order I just created is correct and the direction arrow reappears.
I will move a few more tracks and it does it again.
I'm not accidentally choosing another sort method.
Sometimes a track will go from position one to a new random position.
I don't seem to be able to recreate it do the same thing every time.
Is this a bug? Am I doing something wrong?
Is there an easier way to reposition each track in the playlist? It's driving me crazy :) I've been trying to get 10 tracks in order for more than ten minutes :o

Which Build (Help > About) of MediaMonkey 5?

Manually re-arranging should be saved as you're moving files in the Playlist. Sorting however isn't saved until you manually save it using the Save new order button above the top left of the Filelisting.

I did discover this problem: https://www.ventismedia.com/mantis/view.php?id=18252

5.0.1.2433

Yes that sounds similar to the problem I'm having, although it does work after seemingly random attempts.
