This list is the short version:
1. Unlimited number of Custom ID3 or equivalent tags
Speaks for itself. Also within this the promotion of all standard tags to be selectable as columns in the main window.

2. Ability to organise by any tag [i.e. Composer, Conductor]
The tree on the left should be customisable to include little-used tags and custom tags.

3. Multiple Libraries [i.e. Audiobook Lib, Podcast Lib, Music Lib]
To separate Music from Podcasts from Audiobooks from Radio Documentaries. An 'Audio Type' separation, a stage earlier than 'Genre'

4. Podcast Support
The ability to download podcasts through Mediamonkey, and play them in any library of choosing (either their own. or without adding them to the library). Auto-creation of custom playlists for Podcasts is also a must. [Using a third-party chart is preferable, as I don't just want to know what Mediamonkey users are listening to!]

5. Option to add .m3u or even .wpl Playlist as a single track to library.
The Simplest way of adding multi-file tracks (i.e. Classical Music, Epic Rock, Musicals, Audiobooks - anything which matters what order you hear it in) to a library. The file can contain its own 'Shuffle/Don't shuffle' tag if it's ever deemed necessary.

6. Burn to CD replaced with Burn to Disc
Burn to CD, yes. Burn to DVD, yes, even if only Data is supported, although burn to DVD-A would be nice, if slightly pointless.

7. Direct or Indirect Realmedia support, especially tags!!!
Speaks for itself. I can get Realmedia playing in Winamp 5 with no tag support through realalternative. Any ideas from the Mediamonkey people?

8. Alarm function to Match 'Sleep' Function
Why does no audio player have an alarm function? It's much better than a radio alarm!

9. Option to integrate Visualisation into Mediamonkey's main window.

10. 'TV Screen Mode' - Simplified for reading from a TV screen, or from a distance - this includes remote control support too (popular media remotes, obviously.)

11. The ability to specify a library 'Bookmarkable' (i.e. remembers where you left off - particularly for podcasts and audiobooks.) but by specifying by library it doesn't get in the way when just playing music, or eat too many resources!

12. 'Proper' Crossfadiong to allow tracks which have no gap between them to SOUND as if there is no gap between them.

12 features and Mediamonkey is perfect. That's 567899887 features closer to perfection than the next nearest player :D

what does high priority exactly mean? that you will implement it after a year??

it seems like the wishlist is not really working

So the good news is that others would like such a feature!

The developers add features based on there personal ideas of what MediaMonkey should be and based on feedback from the forum. Things that seemed important in the past might not be anymore. Besides this the wakeup alarm has a workaround available and would be limited in it's functionality in the first place as it can't start the PC.

The wishlist is long, very long, so many items have been on there for a long time. Despite that MediaMonkey does add a lot of requested features in each release, but not all requests can be honored.

personal ideas of course, its their baby, but it could be that people feel that the programmers are not caring, especially when there is an item that was set to high prio years(!) ago and still is high prio!
its not that someone is asking to implement the toe-formula (theory of everything), its just an alarm clock, how difficult could that be??
and its a really useful thing.
and an argument like it couldnt start the pc is not relevant. no alarm clock can do this. you dont invent a bike because it doesnt fly?
maybe it automatically makes you a cup of tea and orders a cab before going to work  .
clock=7:30->play list, as easy as that. and fade in.

It would be great if the Dev's had the time to post a more current roadmap of upcoming features/wishes, but I can also understand the limits of time and depending on the extent and detail, it could take a bit of time which would otherwise be using for implementing potential features.

A careful balancing act no doubt.

What I meant is that many users would like an alarm clock that starts the PC and starts running MediaMonkey. I'm not sure many people would need an alarm function that starts MediaMonkey at a set time. This of course doesn't mean it isn't a valid wish, it is. I was just trying to rationalize the fact that it hasn't shown up in MediaMonkey after such a long time.

Check out the command line commands and the windows scheduler. That should be able to do what you need.

Wish: Automatically start playing

Hello MediaMonkey-Team!

That's exactly what I would like to ask for! Great, that it has got "high priority" already!

So, when MediaMonkey is able to start playing a defined (auto)playlist at a specified time, you'll have a new gold user :-)

many greetings from germany

This is high as far as the users are concerned, not high as far as the developers are concerned. :)
Download my scripts at my own MediaMonkey fansite.

Any way, it can be easily scripted, even by novice scripters (if we forget about advanced functionality and gui for a moment).
Extensions: ExternalTools, ExtractFields, SongPreviewer, LinkedTracks, CleanImport, and some other scripts (Need Help with Addons > List of All Scripts).

scheduled record

Post by garryp »

What i want to do is:

Schedule a timer to automatically start a net radio record, say from 1AM to 3AM.

Would be best if it could also wake the computer.

Alarm? I have a clock.

Wake to music? My radio has an on button to hit after the alarm.

But I want to record a radio channel without waking up.

MM doesn't even have recording capability, so I'm not sure this is such a great idea for a wish.
