Playlist songs out of order

Post by tommyfs »

If I build a playlist in MM5, then File/Reports/Filelist, the resulting CSV file's items are not in the same order as the MM5 Playlist when I open the CSV report in Excel. So if I want to maintain some redundancy (for my gigs), I must rebuild same filelist in MM4 (using older secondary LapTop with Win7SP1). Here's the question: Since both MM4 and MM5 produce the same exported M3U file for a given playlist, I can't seem to find a way to "import" or "copy" the playlist or M3U file from MM4 to MM5 and vice-versa. I really need to ultimately print a hard copy with the correct song order. What am I missing?

1) You can export Playlists as Playlists (so you can use them as such in any application).

2) Which Build (Help > About) of MediaMonkey are you using. I believe this was a bug in an older version.

Thanks, L. Regards #1, the MM5 "Exports Playlist" produces a M3U file, which cannot be opened directly by MM4, meaning I have to recreate that Playlist again for use in MM4, which is double work. I can't find a way to "Import" the M3U file into MM4 for direct use, which is what I want to be able to do.

Re #2, software is MM4 V4.1.31.1919. MM5 V5.0.3.2627.

Thanks for any help you can give.

Add/Rescan Files imports M3U Playlist files in both MediaMonkey 4 and 5.

Got it! Export Playlists, though, exports ALL the playlists. Since I'm usually interested in just one (the newest), I just delete all the playlists in the target folder except the one I'm interested in; then import (Add/Rescan) using the other (MM4). Thanks for the help.

Hi,
Just curious if when you make report and sort by is empty did it export in correct order?

You can also right click on playlist and use Send to -> Playlist to export it.

Also When I use MM for gigs or gatherings or in my old car that did not supported Playlists I simply synced whole folder and made destination filenames are in order of playlist and also set to create playlist with relative path so once I inser external HDD to other PC I can simply use My Computer(MM4)/Folders(MM5) Tree nodes to browse and see playlists or simply double click on playlist toi play it on other PC

For Sync to Local folder (Point to External HDD) I used these settings:
