Ability to edit Rubbish in Info-Panel (Album) [#19692]

Post by Timo_Beil »

How can I convince MM to show the correct genre from db and tags in the info panel instead of some nonsense from the web?

The Info Panel shows information from the Internet, instead of the local tags. Genres can't be edited in the Info Panel.

No!
The Info Panel -My Library- shows:
  • the Album Artist from local tag,
  • the Album name from local tag,
  • the Cover from local tag (not always),
  • the Date from local tag
  • the Rating from local tag
  • the number of local tracks
  • the playing duration of local tracks
so of course it is understandable that the genre is taken from the web.
If this is the intended behavior, I would like to propose a feature request to change it.

+1 for this. I don't see any reason to meticulously tag all my tracks, if those local tags then are not preferred in any view and any meaning. I woudn't care, if MMW fills missing info from web sources, but anything thats in my tag: it is there for a reason.
- my 24/7 media server | MMW 2024.0.0.3038 (non-portable, shared DB & files, only essential addons) | Windows 2016

- my mobile app | MMA Pro 2.0.0.1175 on several Android 10, 11, 12 devices | WiFi Sync

- MP3Tag | MP3Diags | MP3DirectCut | IrfanView

Yes, he is incorrect.
If you alter the album notes data there (from wikipedia), using the Edit Notes item in the three-dot menu, it saves the changed text into the database, and from that point onwards it will display your own local information, and ignore the Internet.

+1 from me also. The current behaviour in the "My Library" tab, has always irritated me also.
I would not mind if they displayed the Internet genre data if I toggled across to the Online tab.

Thanks for this hint!
I'd never tried this feature.... Is it "Edit comment"?
It's a pity that this only works if there is already an entry on wikipedia. If the album is unknown on wikipedia, I am not allowed to write a comment in my db myself.

Yeah, I gave the wrong name. Thanks for correction.
