Re: MMA does not detect DLNA player DENON [#17945]

Post by Peke »

Hi,
As I pointed in viewtopic.php?p=507053#p507053 it is very important that MM5 can normally play any track to Denon/Marantz.

Simply Install latest MM5 Debug as PORTABLE and try to play any track to Denon/Marantz if it plays normally please open support ticket as we need bot logs eg. MMA and MM5 in order to compare playback commands and packets Received/Sent.

MM5 has no problem to operate the Denon. But it does not like to send the log.
I tried to send a log with MM5. Unfortunately there was an exception. But the log file was created. Where can I store it?

If you need more info about the Denon, like the DeviceInfo.xml, then let me know.

Best regards, josch

I might wait until the next version, 1074+, and see what happens before further testing?

We're probably not going to get to this until we start working on 2.0.1.

Are you referring to my issue? Can you give me any specifics about why? Somewhere around here, someone mentioned Marantz being different because it uses HEOS?

If it's a regression in DLNA functionality then we'll treat it more urgently, but afaik it's an issue specific to Denon/Marantz because there's something non-standard in their implementation.

Did this work in MMA 1.x for you?

In 1.x, the receiver did not appear in the list when you click on the "Cast" button. I mentioned this somewhere else here. @Peke commented on the quality of Marantz receivers now vs in the past.

I had tested Marantz with DLNA, but without HEOS. Guess what they worked ;)

Well, I am using the Marantz NR1711 now. I was using the NR1509 prior to this [it was released around 2018].

Hi,
For test I had Marantz NA-11S1 and Marantz AV8801 (on repair) both from 2014.

So it doesn't appear that there's a regression in functionality so we'll defer investigating until to post 2.0.

I noticed that the xFi app that Comcast provides was complaining about multiple attempts to connect to the NR1711this past week? They were all from Belgium?

Can you explain this a bit more? I just updated MMA to 1079. My phone, S22+, has the Marantz receiver in the "Cast" list, but can not connect. Also, when I select Bluetooth the same. I can connect to my LG WebOS TV. But, the speakers in the TV are crap. Why were you able to connect to your Marantz receiver w/o HEOS?

My best guess is taht Marantz Changed something in DLNA Communications so that Heos app can easily be used :( Prior to that they used plain DLNA Standard so I could use it normally.

The best would be to Generate MMA LOG id and also Generate MM5 LOG ID on same track so that Ludek and Michal can compare Packets communication and figure out "why and what is eating our chickens, if it is not a wolf".

EDIT: Marantz NA-11S1 is certified to be DLNA Renderer so it is possible that also have a say in compatibility.
