MMA crash -> Playlists deleted

Post by drunknmonkey »

Today MMA crashed and almost all playlists were deleted. I cannot say what triggered the crash. I was listening to some songs via Bluetooth. Playback ended and I pressed play at the headset some times to restart playback of the now playing list. As playback did not start again I opened MMA and it was hanging.
Then I restarted MMA and it was rescanning all media. This process finished but almost all playlists are still gone.

I just noticed that the database seems to be broken too. All song ratings are missing.

When doing a sync with MMW4 MMA showed "matching new files" for all mp3s. After that finished, MMA showed "synchronisation starting" for hours and I cancelled the sync.
At that point song ratings for most songs were recovered.

I had to restart sync a few times as it got cancelled again and again.
But finally MMA synced all files and playlists again.

That's sad. Your database was probably corrupted and the recovery process failed too.
That's why you lost your synced data.
We plan to implement a backup option for the library database so that it can be restored from an old backup.
It may be useful in cases like this.

When synchronizing a large amount of data, sometimes the upload takes too long and the sync fails due to a timeout.
This should be optimized in MM5 and MM 2024.
Luckily, re-syncing as you did also solves the problem.

It happened again: After MMA crash all manual playlists disppeared

I am not quite sure what exactly forced the crash, but here is what I remember...

- This morning I was casting to google home speaker
- playback stopped after playlist end, not sure if casting connection was still alive.
- I left my home and wifi connection got lost
- i tried to open MMA to play music to my bluetooth headphones
-> MMA was stuck at the home or splash screen, I do not remember exactly
- I switched to my podcast app and forgot about MMA
- tonight I wanted to play music with MMA and sadly remembered what happened this morning as I realized that all playlists are gone.
