Hello everyone,
the function of the back button on my Android 14 device is somewhat inconsistent.
To illustrate this, I have taken a few screen recordings:
1st case: In the "Album Artists", the "Artists" and the "Track Artists" view, the list always jumps back to the top.
To recreate this behavior, please proceed as follows (Screen recording):
- Select "Album Artists" on the Home screen.
- In the "Album Artists" list, select an entry somwhere in the middle of the list.
- Select an album if necessary.
- Use the back button to jump back to the list of "Album Artists".
- You are now back at the top of the list and not where you started.
This behaviour cannot be observed in the "Albums" view (Screen recording).
2nd case: If a list other than the current one is selected in the music view, the back button always takes you to the home screen instead of the previously selected list.
To recreate this behavior, please proceed as follows (Screen Recording):
- Select the "Music" entry in the burger menu. (Current view e.g. "Artists").
- Select an entry other than the current one at the top. (e.g. "Album Artists").
- Select an album artist.
- Select an album if necessary.
- Now jump back with the back button.
- Now you are on the home screen and not in the list of album artists.
This behaviour cannot be observed if you remain in the current view, in this example in the "Artists" list (Screen recording).
Is this behaviour intentional? In any case, I find it a little annoying.
Best regards
Christian

Hi,
I added it as https://www.ventismedia.com/mantis/view.php?id=21585 because some back behavior was hardcoded, dev should analyze and review now.

Re: Inconsistent function of the back button [#21585]
Hi Peke,
I received the MMA Build 1246 today.
The problem in the 2nd case described in my original post has been fixed.
Unfortunately, this is not the case with the 1st problem. In the views "Album Artists", "Artists", "Track Artists", "Genres" and "Composers", the Back button always takes you back to the beginning of the list and not, as expected, to the place where you were before.
Only the "Albumbs" view shows the correct behaviour. There you always return to the starting point in the list.
Here once again are the steps to reproduce the behaviour:
- Select "Album Artists" on the Home screen.
- In the "Album Artists" list, select an entry somwhere in the middle of the list.
- Select an album if necessary.
- Use the back button to jump back to the list of "Album Artists".
- You are now back at the top of the list and not where you started.
As I said, this also applies to the following views: "Album Artists", "Artists", "Track Artists", "Genres" and "Composers".
The screen recordings from my original post are still online.
Best regards
Chrisian
