Google Cast: Audio format is unsupported by the receiver

I've seen this issue happen lots of times before and never bothered reporting it but now it's getting quite annoying!

I've put all my daughter's audiobooks onto her Android tablet as standard mp3s, nothing unusual about the format. They play in every media player I've tried and usually play OK in Mediamonkey but randomly each night when I put her to bed and cast them to her Google speaker I get a message in Mediamonkey along the lines of "Skipped xxx the audio format is unsupported by the receiver" (can't remember exact wording).

This message keeps on flashing up every few seconds and the only way I found to get past it is to force close Mediamonkey, clear the cache and then launch MMA and play/cast it again. At this point it usually works OK.

Thanks for the report!

I haven't tried to replicate this yet, but there have been a lot of audio-related changes in recent 2.1 beta test builds (the most recent beta being 1268). Can you tell me what build is installed (and if it's prior to 1268, whether the issue persists in 1268)?

UPDATE:
- I'm unable to replicate this behavior with MMA 2.1.0.1268 on a Pixel 7 casting to a chromecast mini (I'm only able to occasionally replicate a related problem in which this error occurs upon _initiating_ casting, but this only occurs on the first track and only occasionally--that issue is tracked at https://www.ventismedia.com/mantis/view.php?id=18772 ). If you're still able to replicate the bug build 1268+, can you submit a debug log and share the log ID here?

The tablet is running the latest build from the Play Store 2.0.5.1248. I don't install MMA betas any more ever since I had a massive problem months ago that forced me to reinstall and transfer a huge library from scratch.

ok. 2.1 will be released to Production within the next week or so. It includes numerous UPnP/casting fixes but only one google cast fix. Hopefully it'll improve the situation for you.
