Re: Gapless playback no longer works since build 1230 [#21519]
I have not had gapless playback for many many builds now, maybe it was indeed 1230.
I am on 2.0.5.1245 and there is still a minor pause between tracks, the Iron Maiden album killers should have a seamless transition between "The Ides of March" and Wrathchild but there is a very small but noticeable gap.
I tried setting the transition to None but that made a massive noticeable pause, so I went back to "Gapless" tried one more time with that album but the gap remains.

Hi stonefree
It is quite possible that your problem lies with the music files themselves. But since I don't know which encoder was used here, this is pure speculation.
Best regards
Christian
I am also on build 1245 and gapless playback works perfectly for me.stonefree wrote: ↑Thu May 08, 2025 7:01 am I have not had gapless playback for many many builds now, maybe it was indeed 1230.

No I have definitely had these files in the past play gapless, these aren't newly added files but ones that have been in the library for ages and I remember them playing gapless before.Dynamic990 wrote: ↑Sun May 11, 2025 4:19 am Hi stonefree

Re: Gapless playback no longer works since build 1230 [#21519]
Hello everyone,
I received the update from MMA to build 1248 today. My smartphone has also been updated to Android 15 and One UI 7.
And once again, gapless playback no longer works. Unfortunately, I cannot say which of the updates mentioned above caused the problem.
For me, gapless playback is an essential feature of an audio player and I have to be honest and say that the gapless playback issue with MMA becomes increasingly frustrating and annoying when you have to worry about it being disabled with every update of MMA or the smartphone.
I have created another debug log after switching from one title to another. The log ID is BZYDLYY9J9

Gapless playback not working, again (MMA Build 1248 & Android 15)
Hello everyone,
Since I'm not sure if anyone is still reading this topic, I took the liberty of opening a new one.
Two days ago I received the update from MMA to build 1248. My smartphone has also been updated to Android 15 and One UI 7 at the same day.
And once again, gapless playback no longer works. I measured a gap of 360 to 380 ms with the gapless audio transition activated. Unfortunately, I cannot say which of the updates mentioned above caused the problem.

Hi everyone,
I received the latest build 1268 this morning.
With the new Exo Playback Engine, gapless playback works again as usual.
Many thanks and best regards

Re: Gapless playback no longer works since build 1230 [#21519, #21621]
Hi everyone,
I hate to say it, but gapless playback is not working properly again in the current build 1274 and with the new Exo playback engine. Admittedly, the "gap" is very very minor but still noticeable and I don't know exactly since which build this has been happening again.
But to be absolutely honest with you I'm pretty fed up with this problem occurring from one MMA build to the next so I've now switched to foobar2000 for album based playback because this app never had a problem with gapless playback on my devices. For the time being, I will only use MMA for synchronising with MMW and playing playlists.
I really hope that the developers will eventually get this problem under control permanently, because MMA would be a really good app if the same problem didn't keep cropping up again and again.
I just wanted to let you know.

Hi Christian,
fyi, build 1276 is now rolling out to beta testers and includes a couple of audio-related fixes. I've tested the gapless option (with Exo) and cannot hear any perceptible gap between tracks that are continuous (e.g. some operas).
Can you let me know if it solves the issue for you as well?
Thanks!

Re: Gapless playback no longer works since build 1230 [#21519, #21621]
Hi Rusty,
I have now taken the time to document the whole thing in a little more detail.
The "gap" sounds perhaps more like a glitch and is only about 12 ms short. Therefore, it may only be audible under certain circumstances with appropriate music material (e.g. live recordings) and with headphones. But then it's quite good to hear.
In this screenshot, you can see two stereo audio tracks that I recorded with Audacity from the same section of an album in the transition from one song to the next. The upper blue track was played back with MMA. The marked section is the audible gap. At the bottom of screenshot at "Selection", the lower time is the length of the selection in this case the length of the gap. The lower red track shows the same section in the recording played with foobar2000 Mobile from the same mp3 files. Here, the gap is neither visible nor audible.
I also made two screen recordings, one of MMA and the other of foobar2000 Mobile in which the same section of the same recording was played back. You can clearly hear the gap in the MMA screen recording (headphones may be necessary). To avoid any copyright issues, I will make them available again via a support ticket and post the ticket id here.
Best regards
Christian
